Not a-hole or anything, cause I don't think Bron is an a-hole. He doesn't seem mean-spirited at all.

But out of celebrities on his level, who would be the most purely narcissistic, egomaniacal, insecure, self-aggrandizing, insufferable douche?

Who else would have done this, put a crown on his own head un-ironically, etc.? Maybe we can get a short list. I'm sure there's some actor who would be a challenger to the throne.

Not an Ahole, just slightly delusional about his persona. Don't know he understands how narcassictic he comes across. I mean All do, but he is just kinda non stop with it. He has no need to "try" so hard either, bro you are that great you don't need to speak about it.

Not that I entirely disagree, but I don't mind him throwing his achieved success in everyone’s face. An argument can be made that a majority of fans and pundits expected (or wanted) him to fail because he entered the league with his sights set on being better than MJ. He's heard he can't do this, or that, his entire career and still exceeded expectations in spite of the hype he’s been shouldering since he was 16. We also have to be cognizant of his beginnings; going from impoverished to a billionaire before retirement is unheard of for an NBA player.

Some sources have charted him as one of the most hated athletes in the world. And for what, because he’s a cringy narcissist? A vast majority of players who have achieved far less are too—but you don’t hear about those guys. But I guess hate is a byproduct of greatness.

So yeah, I have no problem with LeBron reminding people of his greatness. Frankly, he should do it more often.

I don't know about all that.

Kobe is beloved - and was so even before he passed.

Certain players are definitely not 'universally hated' like LeBron. Magic and Bird aren't.

Maybe Jordan has more hate but it's more a grudging respect than hate.

Yeah most of us were raised to downplay achievements but doesn't mean that's the right way to be. Have you never reflected back on why that's the case?

It's an old way of thinking.

Jordan never called himself the Greatest of All Time.

He didn't need to.

Lebron fans are just as cringe as Lebron. It's like they can't get enough of Lebron's doucheness and narcissism and begging for more. I don't know how anyone can stand him.

Right and his corporation also sometimes writes "from the greatest player ever" on his shoes. You think they do this without his permission?
Wilt and OJ have mentioned that he has called himself the best ever to them.

Jordan trying to be humble while releasing the last dance, an entire documentary about marginalizing the impact of his teammates. So bad that his wing man Scottie now doesn't talk to him.

I’m sorry but this is a delusional take.

Jordan repeatedly praises Scottie not only in the doc but many times before unprompted. He mentioned him in his HOF speech and has repeatedly said there’s no MJ without Scottie.

The documentary was about the last year of the greatest dynasty in basketball ending. That dynasty just happened to have the greatest player in the league on its roster. There were multiple times where Jordan praises his teammates - there’s an entire episode where he just praises Rodman alone.

Not sure how you come up with this narrative.

Scottie Pippen is just a sad, old fool embarrassing himself by taking out his frustrations over his ex wife and his jealousy of sharing the spotlight on the greatest team ever assembled on his former teammate.

Jordan has also been asked - while still an active player - if he believes he’s the GOAT and said he would disrespectful to the greatest before him to consider himself the greatest ever and it’s hard to judge that based on the different eras of basketball. A much better and humble answer than LeBron crowning himself and referring to himself as the GOAT most of his career.

He’s been doing this since the Super Bowl, lol. I really don’t think he cares what people say about him, dude is worth a billion dollars. Do you really think guys like him, Elon, and Zuckerberg have sleepless thinking about why people don’t like them ? They wipe their tears with money.

Money can buy you mansions, mclarens, private jets, yatchs, and all material things the world offers… but it cannot make people like you.. see that’s what you don’t understand… people view him as just a very unlikeable person .. and despite all the smiles.. he clearly does care which is why his Narcissism keeps gettin worse..

I understand calling himself the GOAT was the least humble LeBron has been. I agree. But I don't think Jordan shows more humility than LeBron generally, regardless of his sound bite on the GOAT conversation.

These are signs of humility:
- admit when wrong
- recognize mistakes
- take ownership of mistakes
- give credit to others
- kindness in conflict
- being considerate of others

You can be confident and love yourself without constantly having to tell the world that you're the greatest thing God has ever created.

Right but he doesn't, when was the last time he said stuff like this?

He's accepting an award for breaking Kareem's record

He speaks in the third person regularly, is always on social media patting himself on the back and is constantly saying things like this. I’m not sure he’s aware that all this stuff isn’t achieving what he thought it’d do- in fact it’s doing the opposite.

Beautiful, eloquent, and perfectly put by a man fit for the title of the GOAT. As far as basketball related speeches go, this is up there with Jimmy V's famous ESPY speech. Bravo, King James.

Plenty of athletes would feel themselves as much as Lebron does. But nobody but the GOAT has the same combination of lukewarm intelligence, non existent self awareness and teleprompter oratory skills that make you cringe any time he starts talking about himself.

Marginalize the impact of his teammates? The doc was centered around him but he didn’t marginalize his teammates. He even says we shouldn’t say the name MJ without mentioning Scottie.
