Who Would You Rather Have: Alperen Sengun or Chet Holmgren?

this is really tough. should be closer, but i went chet. love them both. early believer in both. gonna be great bigs to watch for years to come, health permitting.

i am not taking a think away from sengun's mettle. his game is smooth and i don't confuse that for weakness in any way. but chet is a KILLER killer, and i love it.

Generally polls like this don't show how close players are at all in the results. To keep it simple with 2k-like ratings, if one player is clearly an 88 overall and another a 89 and most people can clearly see that, a poll would be like 80/20 even though they're extremely close to being just as good as each other, so the poll results here are not particularly surprising. People are going to gravitate to Chet's player type when the players are close

aggression/appearance aside, i do accept the defense edge for chet. but i don't watch either enough to be an expert. i catch what i can on LP.

love seeing young teams make real noise in the league. hope both make the playoffs and take a chunk out of somebody.

There are very very few players in this league I would swap Sengun for. Chet isn't one of them. I wouldn't even take the deal if the Thunder attached picks to Chet. I just know we have a future superstar on our hands.

Of course not because you made a homer post. The Thunder wouldn't trade Chet for Sengun straight up but you wouldn't even take a Chet + picks? Crazy town

Why would I want that for Houston? How is that crazy town? We're talking about Chet here, not prime MJ. I know OKC wouldn't trade Chet straight up for Sengun. I wouldn't if I was them. I'm saying I wouldn't do it in reverse either, whether they added picks or not.

Sengun is a good player, a really good story but he doesn't have the impact that Chet does, that's just a fact.

I doubt it, and I say that as someone as rates Chet very very highly. I love his game. But I doubt Houston does that.

I don't think they would and I absolutely love Chet and have zero qualms with anyone saying they'd rather have Chet.

Sengun is their offensive engine, both now and long term, Chet is not that even if he's as good or better than Sengun, they need Sengun. Think both OKC and Houston are happy with the one they have

My opinion hasn't really changed. Both are really good, young players with upside. Chet might have more upside but its a close comparison right now. Sengun is obviously worse defensively but he is a pretty good defender, there is a reason the Rockets rank 4th on D.

People seem to forget that Chet is playing in a much more favorable situation. Do people really think he would maintain his current efficiency if he wasn't playing with SGA?

Actually I was wrong on only one prediction for Chet so far which is his health. He has impressed me with 36/36 games played. I hope he stays healthy for the future.

He's at 28% for his career, just over that for this season (28.6%) and notably worse of late (3/16...20%..since Christmas).

Also couldnt find many of Sengun's euro step dribbles , Dude literally takes the ball at 3pt line most of the time and dribble pass the players untill the rim and you think some 7'1 guy better than him at ball handling ?

Since 2023/12/04 Chet has been shooting 65% on two pointers, and has created 40% of his 2 point shots. He has taken 117 drives since December 4th, that is more drives than Jimmy Buckets. He has taken more drives in 1 month than most bigs take all season.

He can bring bigs out to the 3 point line since hes averaging 40% on 4 threes a game and then roasts them in the mid range and by driving. I wouldn't believe he could sustain his current true shooting percentage since it's comparable to prime KD and Curry's TS%, but given his BBIQ and unicorn status, he definitely would be able to get buckets on a decent percentage.

I'm thrilled with him so far. Elite rim protecting big who is shooting 40% on four 3pa/g, and averaging 18ppg on 62% TS.
