None of the teams that can sign PG will win a championship with him: Clippers, Sixers, Magic

But he's sure gonna cash dem checks.

Not worth it for a bunch of first round exits and the occasional second round exit.

George ideally would be in a Porzingis type role. Porzingis like George in the beginning was the first option, didn't work wasn't good enough, then second option, team was a playoff team but isn't winning a championship, 3rd or 4th option then you've got something. But unlike George Porzingis is settling for 30 million, George wants the max.

Dude is definitely going to max harden, max PG, after maxing Kawhi so he can go into opening day in Intuit Dome with a big 3 of kawhi/harden/pg13 selling that his team is competing. This is what Lawrence Frank said today, he was already signaling to the fans that they are going to keep the team together. For better or worse.

they don't have much of a choice for the next 3 seasons or so- Kawhi is under contract and they have no draft picks. They have to re-sign Harden and PG if for no other reason than to retain assets and maybe get something back in trade. It's not like they can rebuild right now.

This is fear talking. As already pointed out we’ve seen teams actually have to add picks to outgoing aging, disgruntled stars. A clean break is better. PG and Harden will refuse to leave LA and tank their own value. We literally just saw Harden do it! Stupid idea to give them deals.

I agree, but I'd be surprised if they let them walk (or do a sign and trade). They're more likely to sign both of them and run it back. If they do they should make sure that all three (PG, Kawhi and Harden) expire at the same time.

If they were to move in a different direction they don't have control of their picks until 2030 (but do have picks...it's swaps when they do).

Interesting to see how this plays out.

I tend to think Ballimer will blink and give PG the Max. They have very little/none assets to be able to replace him for the foreseeable future anyway

Clippers have no choice but to give PG what he wants. They cant do anything else with the money they don't give him. Surprised this wasn't worked out already.

Sign and trade to the Lakers

Clips are going to play this out, see if it turns into a S&T opportunity and if not, Ballmer will pay the man and move on. The issue where the Clips won't budge is on the NTC and Kicker provisions. Once PG is past the deadline, he will be traded.

No chance that George gets more than Kawhi. If that's his demand, then he gets his contract but ultimately with another team.

Can’t S&T. Only opt in and trade like Harden, which PG won’t do because he knows he’s not getting a 4 year max if he waits another season.

Clippers lose either way. They have painted themselves in to a corner.

PG 13% is not max worthy.

Yeah I think so too. PG is from LA and I doubt he wants to move on either. His reps probably looked at the landscape and figure Ballmer will cave at some point.

Handicapping the situation I would guess Clips cave and give PG his max and the Sixers go out and trade for Embiid's buddy Butler.

Not really though. They'll eventually sign him to a max deal. The Clippers will be good for another few years, even if not contenders. When PG and Kawhi are gone, they'll continue to be a top FA destination. That will never change.
