Line moved already (from 17.5) so probable that bets on Serbia came early but this could still change as American bettors can still move this line (back to 17.5 or higher. Serbia already lost the first two meetings via big blowouts and i expect the same. Perhaps close until early 3Q but i feel US once again tires out Serbia (especially Jokic) late third and they pull away in the fourth. Scary over/under too (188.5 is too high even with all the weapons from both sides) but sticking with the over as i feel US wants to make a statement again.

It's not that Serbia can't beat the US. If KD has a normal shooting night, this game could actually be close, but I feel as though someone is bound to play well. Also, I'd be surprised if Curry doesn't have at least one good game shooting wise at this tournament. But, yea, if Booker, KD, Curry all have off nights, while the Serbs knock down shots, it could be wide open. Very unlikely though.

KD is what truly makes the US unbeatable. Unlike some of the other guys on this squad, KD knows how to play off-ball. His efficient movement combined with his unreal shooting ability makes the US impossible to guard. If he weren't on the team, I'd actually like the Serbians chance of stealing this game.

Even without KD, the Americans will still be considerable favorites.

Assuming Jokic is his usual self (20-10-5), key for Serbia would be 3 pt shooting (particularly Bogdanovic) and obviously stopping the Americans’ transition attack.

For the US, i think they pull off the surprise in stopping Jokic one on one, i do think Embiid improves defensively and will do a fine job on him a la AD and Bam.

Olympic MVP doesn’t really matter. But nobody else in the tournament even comes close to this:

Jokic leads Serbia in points (19.3), rebounds (11.8), assists (7.5), steals (2.5) and blocks (1.0) per game. He's also shooting 60%. With Jokic on the floor, Serbia has outscored its opponents by 43 points. When he's been on the bench, it has been outscored by 12 points.

Embiid looked a bit more spry last game and was giving better efforts rebounding and on defense. That said, Kerr should definitely have a short leash with him if he starts again.

To his credit, he’s coming off good games. Provided those are against patsy teams Puerto Rico and Brazil, still that should be great for his confidence entering a matchup against his MVP rival.

Love to hate the guy (playoff choker, dirty player, etc) but if he at least contains or help contain Jokic (say an ineffecient 7/20 night with just 16 pts, 5 rebs and 5 assists), that’d be the difference between a close game and a blowout win for the US.

i think he won’t suck as much like the first meeting with Serbia/Jokic when he played just 11 minutes and had 4 pts and 2 rebounds.

Thoughts on Germany-France, international ball experts? About to change my mind flip my bet (from France to Germany -5.0)— more and more i analyze their last game, the more i believe the Germans can repeat another convincing victory! The refs are scaring me though!

I love when MVP goalposts shift from team success to how much better you are than your scrub teammates depending on who the sweetheart is that year. Speaking generally, I think we should ban all awards in basketball and just have the All-NBA teams be a result of rigorous analysis, no media voting. Enough of this pseudo-rational homecoming king nonsense. Why are people even into it?

Fast start from Germany but French came back before the Germans took control again. End of 1Q, Germany 25, France 18.
