Grimes is setting become a fre agent so we'll see what his next contract will be.

I doubt it will be equal to or less than Caleb Martin's, four year, $35m.

*Remmeber Caleb Martin and his agent fumbled his free agency by turning down 5yrs, $65 million from Miami.

We're talking about defense.
And having a bigger wingspan doesn't necessarily translate to being a better defender. That's the point.

Size matters bro

LaMelo a better defender than Suggs, 'bro'? He's got half a foot on him in wingspan?
You gonna dodge the question again?

Hmmm maybe I'm off-based but looks like a terrible trade for me. Mavs need a 2/3 like Grimes more than a 3/4 like Martin. Only way it makes sense is if they have a PJ Washington trade lined up or something like that, and want Marshall & Martin to essentially be backup 3's and 4's behind Davis & Thompson. Mavs need the shooting of Grimes in lineups more than the versatility of Martin since they already have versatile guys.

The Mavs look like they’ve built an elite defense that should be top 5ish in the league. Ad long as their offense isn’t a disaster they should be a top 4 team in the West and a strong dark horse championship contender.

So you know, they don't have to start Eric Gordon's corpse or rookie Edwards in the backcourt with Maxey.

Martin was super redundant with George, Oubre and Yabusele there.

Philadelphia is making the play-in even if Embiid is not playing another game, the east is that bad. They know this and that's why they're not rushing him back.

They'll probably have to face two manageable teams as well and even avoid the Celtics in the 1st round.

They aren't clearing ****.

Why is it a bollocks take? Compared to Dallas, we are less able to accommodate a Grimes extension. Have you looked at the Sixers cap situation?

Our starting SF, Caleb Martin, also played more than 30 minutes per game on average. There wasn't redundancy with Yasu, who we use primarily as a PF when our bigs are healthy and as a small ball center. What on earth are you talking about?
Martin is a SF-PF. Played a ton of small 4 in Miami.

So are Oubre and George. Guersch is a 4 and small 5.

That's where the redundancy is.

You literally played Gordon on his last legs, Edwards and G-Leaguer Ricky Council in the backcourt alongside Maxey lately.

Grimes is a real 2 and can play 2. Martin couldn't.

Your healthy lineup of Maxey/Grimes/George/Oubre/Embiid with Guersch backing up multiple positions is more balanced and fits better than anything to do with having Gordon or G league level guys starting.

Contract situations are not relevant, you're getting McCain back next year anyway.

The bollocks part is about shedding salaries and George. That's just absurd.

Philly hasn't given up on the season. Nor should they.

Embiid has been out for most of the year the top three lineups the Sixers feature all have Maxey Oubre and martin in them.

When Embiid is healthy likely Yasu moves to the bench but that won't change regardless because you want Paul George at this point of his career playing more PF even if he really doesn't like it. I guess you can make an argument that Grimes is more athletic and can defend guards better but I mean at the end of the day Maxey and Oubre are going to have defend someone.

Just seemed like a strange reason to argue we made the trade because Martin contract is reasonable and had control. That is more valuable then being able to defend an extra position for half-a-season and Oubre is not a defender. Having him at SF won't change that.

Caleb is an A+ role guy. Solid all around player and team first kind of player. He's going to make a solid impact for the Mavs.

They had to open up some space for Max Christie to get playing time and I think its been evident how much Kidd loves placing Spencer who is even more important now with Luka gone. Caleb has a favorable contract going forward at just ~8m/season the next 3 seasons after this vs Grimes who is line for a pay raise that the Mavs can't afford.

Oh ok thats why money .

It's always about the money when you build around the margins of two max contracts, but sure ignore the first 3/4 of what I wrote about positional flexibility.

You gonna dodge the question again?

Son, when Rob PIMPlinka struts down Wilshire in that tight leather jacket oozing pheromones and confidence, the ladies instantly know his two extra inches will make all the difference.

Wait until Mavs trade Klay+Naji+Gafford to the Pelicans for Ingram+Theis

Mavs will be:
Kyrie, Christie, Ingram, Davis, Lively -- Dinwiddie, Caleb, Omax, PJ, Theis
And they will be a seriously legit team. I wouldn't bet against that team in any series.

that's crazy, Grimes is much better and much younger

man, 76ers have a steal in Grimes and low-key a crazy stacked roster, if Embiid were ever healthy, i'm sure PG will stop being "bored" and be a much better (motiviated) version of himself. Maxey is a star and they have great role players, Grimes is just another gem for them. Nico is either braindead or there's some real conspiracy S*** going on, wth...

Actually no. The Mavs are thin at the 4. AD is the only natural 4 on the Mavs roster after the trades. Lively/Gaff are 5s. AD is a 4. PJ can play small ball 4. Naji is a 3 and can play small ball 4. When the only legit guy you can throw out there at the 4 is Dwight Powell you need depth.

However, Spencer, Hardy, Naji, Klay, Exum, and Christie can all play the 2/3 spot.

As much as I love Grimes, Christie replaced him.
The Mavs are dead to me now.

Dallas traded 3 second rounders to dump THJ and get Grimes, and now another 2nd to get Martin.

So essentially THJ + 4 seconds for Caleb Martin.

Nico following the Troy Weaver handbook of asset management.

is kyrie not a FA?

he can leave summer time
That is a hilarious wrinkle, i didn't realize he can decline his PO and be a free agent.
