What good does this do now??

Gets another 2-3 pages of everyone talking about it on RealGM. More engagement and the NBA loves sticking it to the refs.
Instead the NBA could have just let it be. Spoken to the ref behind closed doors, educate him (and get him some help if he did lose someone close to him that day). Everyone knew Luka shouldn't have been T'd up. It literally serves no purpose.

You get suspended if you have 16. They’ve always rescinded wrong technicals.

They also have the option to review the play and still didn't take that opportunity when they review every cough on a player these days...

There would be no officials left if fans got their way.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Refs ignore garbage from the fans all the time. They are far far far far far far far more professional in that aspect.

I don't know what exactly the fan said to Luka but there should still be some lines of banter and heckling that all fans should not cross.

Some idiot fan in Boston got ejected last week for heckling Marcus Smart when the Wiz came to town (which is idiotic after all the great things Marcus did for our franchise)

Paying good money for your tickets doesn't entitle to abuse or belittle players as much as you like. Respect is a two way street.

Assuming the OKC fan was telling the truth, that does seem a bit precious by Luka. He still shouldn't have been ejected too, I wonder if there will be possibilities for coaches to challenge tech fouls in future, would certainly prevent last night's fiasco.

Obviously not for every game though, maybe say a coach has a certain limited amount of tech foul challenges per season and playoffs.

No one wants to see a superstar ejected from a playoff game for such a mistake like Luka was last night

I'm pretty sure Luka and the fan are cool with it and actually enjoy the back and forth. The only unenjoyable part for Luka is when the ref misunderstands who its directed at and tosses him from the game

Just another reason why receiving punishments for T's is awful by the NBA. But I do get your point in the current landscape.
IMO they shouldn't have done anything. Let it stand. It just makes Tony Brothers look bad now too. This is what's wrong with the NBA in these things.
If the technical was for vulgar language then let it stand.
I have a problem with calling it in the first place (depending on what specifically was said but I doubt it was TOO over the top to get a tech), but either retract it in real time or stay with it.
Rescinding a technical for language shouldn't happen. Either you said something wrong or you didn't. It would absolutely help the players if they knew what is and isn't considered foul language too.

Tony Brothers gave Jaylen Brown a technical foul 2 years ago in Denver after Jaylen clapped in frustration after Joker scored a contested rebounding bucket.

Refs like Tones are so insecure that he thought Jaylen was insulting him

Zarba is another ref who calls so many petty and unnecessary tech fouls.
