Give it time.

If he can win a ring this year he’ll start to get into the conversation. If he wins another then they won’t have much option. Not to mention the (foul baiting) hate could ironically make his popularity grow just by discussing him more.

the thing is "face of the league" is not something you can just label someone and run with it. either you have it or you dont. and i guarantee if ant would play up to par. it would be no question, that ant would be the face of the league. shai just isnt a face of the league kind of guy. he seems like a silent assassin. more like a KD than a lebron from a personality standpoint.

and i think you clearly have to be the best player in the league, which he just isnt at this point. its still jokic
im bout dat action boss

Luka already tops in jersey sales and is now playing for the Lakers.

The league will anoint him the face next year when the Lakers finish with a top 3 seed. Wemby is next in line. Unfortunately for Shai and even Edward's, their star power will never overcome the fact that they are in a small market. You need to be Lebron level for that.

I don't think him being Canadian has anything to do with it cause how many people know Murray who's not at Shai's level or even Brooks who's a c-list player but has notoriety. I think it primarily has to do with Shai's personality(more charismatic than Kawhi but not by much), lack of explosiveness, and add that with playing for OKC. What may actualy make him more known shortly though is his fashion sense because he's getting more notoriety in the fashion world because of it. He may not want to associate with Drake though lol.

Am I the only one who think Shai's facial features make him look like a duck? Like I could totally see him with a duck bill instead of a mouth.

Did I just say that out loud?

You are criticizing a person's culture and history. God forbid that some random people can't pronounce their name.
What happens when a child marries someone with a hyphenated name? And so on and so forth. Someone at some point is going to have to decide on a single name anyway to avoid the chaos.

What chaos? Hyphenated names are normal. If you don't like it, too bad. Deal with it!

If Shai and KATs kids some how became a family, it would be Gilgeous - Alexander - Anthony -Towns. And that's assuming there wasn't other hyphenated names placed on their children before that.

It's not sustainable.

He just doesn't have that "IT" factor. You can't explain what that is, you either have it or you don't. Although highly skilled, he's quite bland as a player, especially for a SG where they tend to be more flashy. The foul baiting doesn't help either, casual fans aren't tuning in to watch that.

Perhaps, but why does he have to do all of that? Luka was touted as the future face of the league since his rookie season, but he has yet to even with an MVP so that talk has been simmering for the last few years. ESPN has been ready to crown Ant for the past year, they don't seem to give Shai the same respect.

All three of these players have generally won the same amount of accolades.

Luka took a bad team to the finals. That trumps MVP, tbh. Harden and Westbrook have MVPs.

He’s not a SG though….

Seems like SGA doesn't have the personality for it or doesn't want the extra spotlight.

He's a boring person with a game that isn't really that aesthetically pleasing. Even Fat Luka is more interesting.
