Does OKC have a cozy spot on their bench? Would be a better send off for CP3 to go out with a ring.

Or maybe he’s retiring to become head coach of the Clippers now

As a clipper fan this is so odd and insane. Lawerence Frank should be blackballed from the league and never should have been around the clippers this long.

So far we know Paul did not want this situation. Lou Will is basically painting the picture that Chris as we’ll know was unbearable to deal with and holding people accountable. Pressure overflowed to get rid of him but we don’t know if it was someone specifically or the whole organization.

Can't really blame him.

I never understand this attitude from Laker fans. Your team has won all the titles and the little brother clippers haven't won anything. Why would you 'celebrate' them continuing to suck? It's not some heated rivalry, lol.

I think it’s clippers fans that Lakers fans are annoyed by and dislike, not the clippers themselves.

perhaps this wasn't handled well- probably never should have signed him in the first place, but people will tune you out if you are ranting and raving but are ineffective yourself as a player. There are many problems on this team and his poor play was certainly one of them.

CP0 is the most washed up player of the league currently and it's not even close (this is saying a lot when Lebron is still out there padding his stats playing). He should just retire.

I reckon so

If he isn't the one to blame then why cut him? CP3 isn't playing well and he is definitely part of why they are 5-17 or 5-16 whatever but he is just a small part of this mess. He is retiring and in his farewell tour and you cut him. This franchise.

There's definitely more to the story.
It's mutual, they're not doing him dirty..

He wants to ring chase,Clippers were supposed to be a contender of sorts but clearly, that's not the case

It sounds the exact opposite of mutual. He wasn't expecting it per his post and he's not even being waived. He's being sent home. So he can't even join another team

And Chris joined the Clippers to retire, not to ring chase. He specifically said he didn't care about the state of the team when he signed back in the summer

if that's the case that's obviously a very different story and pretty shameful by them

I'm sure Chris cussed out the locker room but he's also right on every count. Lots of toxic power grabbers in that locker room and FO it seems.

I don't see him resigning with anyone. Lakers don't need him so he'll be buried on the bench butting heads with more guys. I think he just retires.
Chris Paul is a dawg in a locker room full of small minded pups. Coach Lue is to blame.

Chris Paul needs to go to OKC and enjoy time with those young men. In reality, I expect him to go to Houston, or stay home in LA with the Lakers.

Counterpoint: Chris Paul is a dick whose bite is no longer worth his bark. He's outlived his usefulness. (In an NBA sense, he'll be fine coaching his kid's AAU team.)

Please let it be Uncle Dennis who drove this decision. More drama is great when it's not related to your team.

I don't think they should retire any jerseys but truth be told Kawhi and George at least got to the Conference Finals.

Kawhi cost the clippers so many FRP and SGA,so no....

No team could benefit more from having a true floor general than the Pistons. I have no love for Chris Paul. Have disparaged his overratedness many times on here. But it makes too much sense if he's content with blending in with the team rather than trying to take it over.

I cant speak on behalf of all Laker fans, but I started rooting against the Clippers during Lob City. I dislike CP3 so I couldn't root for their success in good conscious. Fuel was added to the fire when PG burned the Lakers and decided to team up with Kawhi. The media and Clippers PR tried really hard to push the whole new sheriff in town narrative, Clippers fans were extremely obnoxious, and bums like Pat Beverly couldn't shut their trap so naturally I grew to despise them. Everything worked out perfectly though, the more I think about it I don't really hate the Clippers anymore, lowkey feel bad for Ballmer he has always been so invested in this team.

Who the hell is "I"?

The "I" in this story is clearly Lawrence Frank. Per ESPN:

"... Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank texted a statement to ESPN confirming that Paul is no longer on the team."

The statement from Frank:

"We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team," Frank said. "We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we've struggled. We're grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise."

Paul fits with Denver, Houston, Milwaukee, and Minnesota.

Everyone is afraid to speak ill of the dead (or those with a dead career), but Paul famously grates on people. Don’t he have drama with Harden in Houston? Anyways I would love to mock the Clippers but this is probably a both sides issue.

No way if I were a contender (especially OKC) would I bring in this guy who just got bounced for being a cancer. Nobody likes him. Even the people who pretend to like him.

Nobody owes him anything (well, maybe the Clips).
