Our hospitals are already being pushed to the edge, it's going to be much worse, and probably in a much shorter period of time too.

Cuomo just said with this rate the hospitals will have mass shortage on supplies within one week. Not just ventilators, but all types of supplies. If that happens NY will be the next Italy.

Been noticing this growing trend of people reflexively parroting "China is lying about their numbers", which while probably true, seems like missing the boat by an hour and then complaining it left 1 minute early.

Whether or not China's numbers are accurate (likely not as they aren't even testing anymore), we can safely say that large swathes of the world have passed the point where that even matters. This is still a really big deal in many countries, and it hasn't been handled particularly well in many countries.

I was tested for coronavirus In Michigan Sunday. Still awaiting results. Been a rough week. Feel like I’m on fire. Sharp pain in my chest and heavy breathing. I’ll start feeling a bit better, then at nighttime it gets real bad again. Don’t have a cough anymore, but constant pressure in my head and chest.

I think you've missed my point like you've missed the boat. Source aside (a whole new can of worms), I *agree* with you that China's numbers are likely bogus (you basically can't even get tested in China anymore), but it doesn't matter anymore.

Knowing China is lying is not going to fix this thing or make it better. I'm questioning why it's become a more common 'gotcha' at the moment when there are more pressing concerns.

I don't know, I'm starting to get optimistic about NY, yes there's a lot of people with it, but it's a lot of younger people. We're going to have a lot of deaths unfortunately, but I think we'll come out of this better than Italy.

I live in Santa Clara County. We went into lockdown 10 days ago.

Today the new cases number was 32, down from 80 yesterday and 80 the day before. Hopefully this continues.

If America is so disgusting to you, why are you here, on a forum dedicated to American sports? I am not even American, but I find these sorts of posts infuriating. And why hide behind a BallBoy account? Why not use your real one?

I think by the end of Saturday the USA confirmed cases reach 120,000. I'm guessing the confirmed cases for the USA could top out at between 130,000 to 160,000. I don't think the USA reaches 200,000 confirmed cases. But I do think 200,000 people have got the virus and have recovered without them being a confirmed cases.

I agree Chinese immigrants and tourists in recent times are unbearable. But maybe the reason those Chinese you encountered moved to Canada/America/Australia because they are pro-America, therefore judgemental and materialistic? At worst, China is as devoid of morals as The BEST Country in the world, so what?

What in the world do you base that on? The case detection rate is accelerating - there were almost 19,000 new cases yesterday!

I'll be shocked if we aren't over 200,000 in short order

Exponential growth

If we are being extra conservative and say the number increases by 5% a day:
Day 0: 400
Day 1: 420
Day 2: 441
:
:
Day 28: about 1,600 a day

A rate of 10% after 28 days is about 5,700 lives a day
