I have to say that I really doubt that Thanasis would have been in Greek team if he have had different name. His career EuroLeague stats are 4/2/0. People might believe he’s very good defender, but even that is very questionable, because he’s just foul machine. He can play in Oaka, because referees are allowing anything there. He would fouled out in a minute in Nba.

Anyway, Thanasis through his career averages almost as many fouls as he does points. He's only on Greece senior NT because of nepotism. He only got on Panathinaikos roster as a marketing gimmick. The Bucks only signed him because of nepotism. It's a really bad look all the way around, for Greece NT and for the Bucks.

NZ have always been underrated, they've been playing great for years now but people still think they're trash. If they watched the Brazil game they should know what to do.

also the rest of the world didnt regress or stayed the same. the rest of the world got better. this serbia team is complete and a lot better than before.

Still, if the likes of Durant, Curry, Harden etc. were to participate and if this team had put a little more emphasis on adding some actual big men, there wouldn't be a squad that could beat us. There have been better teams than this Serbia who challenged us.

Serbia looks like the best team in this tournament, Jokic is great, but I think they are not the most talented team and their performance thus far is a little overrated. Giannis got a lot of NBA calls this game....

Yeah, he played a really good game. But the reffing was agenda based clearly. They called every single touch foul on him against New Zealand. It was pure NBA reffing - - it was pretty clear the refs made sure the NBA MVP didn't get eliminated in the first round.

Giannis played very well in the game though, but I am not sure Greece would have won the game, if they called regular FIBA style instead of giving Giannis every touch foul call like in the NBA. On the other side, Greece was very physical with New Zealand and they didn't get many calls at all.

FIBA really needs to stop doing stuff like this. It taints the game. Giannis was playing well from the start of the game, the refs didn't need to help him like that.

If the refs give Giannis all those ticky tack touch fouls against USA...........USA Basketball federation and US sports media are going to go nuts.

when competition intensifies, as have happened for the last 5 years, Serbia dominates competition, and then loses in finals. This year just might be different. I am talking about destroying australia, brazil etc in elimination games

As I said, Giannis actually played how he needs to in that game. He played very well, and was not so timid. But, if the refs give him every touch foul like that (NBA style) against USA, and not a small country like NZ, this forum will literally explode.

They were just as deep, or deeper, they were better coached in some cases, they were more experienced, they were more clutch, they had higher basketball IQs, and in case of Lithuania and Greece they had much better guard play.

Jokic isn't as good as Pau was in those years for Spain. Bogdanovic, for as good as he plays, he isn't comparable to what Manu, Jasikevicius were doing, or to what Spanoulis and Navarro were doing - just being able to single handed flat take over games and close and shut teams down.

And Serbia's mix of key players, as good as it is......it's not

What the hell are we arguing about? Simmons would absolutely Bully some of these defenders. "He cant shoot" he would still be able to drive to the mid and draw defenders.

Only issue if that We are clearly playing Bogut as our main distrbutor, having Patty Slash to get shots and trying to get Landsale/Ingles free. Hell having 3 pass first options then Ingles/Mills on the court is a nightmare

We've finished 4th many times. I hate Kuzminskas because he turns into MJ lite against us, Kills us every game. We came out shooting well, Lithuania fought back because they are a bloody great side.
