Another game missed. He needs to fall down the mvp ranking now. Other guys are playing so they should be rewarded. Jokic was penalized when he was missing games at the end of last season.

I thought he was ducking?? What a ridiculous narrative that was...

This will be his 6th missed game (3rd in a row). You can miss 17 before you're out of MVP contention.

if he misses the entire week I'd say he will fall down the ranking. It's a very long season, unless this goes on for multiple weeks, this will be a minor blip. If he comes back and dominates for a week or two again, he'll be back up.

Also Luka is out for the next game btw...

Luka has been playing 40min per game in Dec, time to rest a b2b especially after what he showed in the 4th quarter yesterday. Looking back, Embiid should also have rested on a b2b against thDet or CHO few weeks ago given his health history.

Indeed, robbing an all time great who had an all time great season just to appease some loud, mediocre player will be unbelievable to future generations.

Lol, at Embiid being mediocre. Like genuinely, not sure how that word can be thrown about.

Don't tell me playoffs, because as I've said he's been injured the majority of the time.

I’m not even going to respond to that nonsense. This thread is ridiculous. Now, Embiid is mediocre. This is prob the worst mvp discussion I’ve ever seen

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

I think he was talking about Embiid last year. This year Embiid is on another level compared to himself last year

So you're saying he was mediocre last year? He had the 2nd highest per of all time to Jokic I believe, or it was top 5 at least. He was the highest scoring center since shaq, incredibly efficient, and was very clutch in the regular season. Not to mention elite defense.

It's just lazy for people to write things like that. You can't be an MVP candidate if you're mediocre. Hell, all-stars aren't mediocre.

Embiid has never been mediocre. Again, there is no objective analysis in this thread at all. It’s not even proper discussion.

Is Embiid compared to average NBA players, or is he compared to MVPs (All time greats)?

If he's compared to average NBA players, I agree, he's never been mediocre.

If he's compared to his PEERS (NBA MVPs), he has had a whole lotta mediocre playoff performances.

26 point perfect triple double in 29 minutes for Jokic tonight. He and SGA are neck and neck for first right now. Almost impossible to pick between them.

Joker checks out with 1 minute left in 3rd quarter.

26/14/10 on 100%/100%/100% shooting splits, for a +25 performance.

Don't forget the 11/11 shooting (1/1 from 3) and 3/3 from the line

Also picked up a new massive scratch on his arm, which wasn't a foul - blood just starts pouring from his arm from legal defending positions

Edit: Missed the word 'perfect' in your post :)

He got more scratches on his arms than his FTA average per game.

Jokic best player on earth -

Jokic is the only MVP candidate that can shoot 11 times and be the best player on the court - Luka, sga, Giannis and Embiid need to take 20plus shots to have this level of impact

Jokic is playing just well enough to keep himself in the conversation. It also helps that the Nuggets have won 7 straight and have a relatively easy stretch up until facing the Sixers on Jan 14.

Embiid is still the clear front runner. Then I would say Luka and Shai are next followed by Jokic and Giannis.

Yes, but this is the first time he did it without missing a free throw.

In the other one that met the 20 point criteria, he scored 35 on perfect FG%, but missed a free throw
