There's currently a thread about Andre Roberson's tip to a bartender and people think a thread about lonzo ball isn't good gb material? Lol the bias is unreal. There are way less relevant threads popping up daily but people only complain when it's the Lakers.

Don't make fun of Boston's new starting SG.

That's Gordon Hayward, you may have heard of him before.

I feel bad for those other players on the Lakers cause they are never going to get any credit or attention as long as this media diva and his dad are a part of their franchise. And Laker fans think this circus is going to attract FA's? I think it will be the opposite.

What Lonzo did last night will translate a hell of a lot easier to regular season NBA basketball than what Tatum did.

Hayward is a SF, and grossly out of position at SG. Look at the top, next to his number. Whats it say?

Celtics play position less bball. We switch on all screens. GH can play 2, or Crowder, or smart, or Whoever.

As for Brown, he was bad in the last two games, but Celtics (and Brown himself) are putting him in a new role and forcing him to do things he does not know how to do yet, but this is intentional, he seems practicing more than playing his basketball. If you watch his first game (he dominated) he played doing easier and simpler plays, rather less as a ball-handler and creator. He is trying to expand his game.
I'm not worried about him in that regard, consistency as a player and as a shooter is the main thing considering he will be starter SG or a 6-man in the next season.

Call it whatever you want, but good defensive teams must have foot speed and Hayward is no Avery Bradley.
You're gonna give up a ton of corner 3s.

Yeah his shooting and his defense is going to translate well alright against way better players.

Yeah, because Tatum is a regular prime Scottie Pippen out there defensively.

On offense, Jaylen Brown is basically Tyreke Evans without the handles and playmaking.

Never said that but Ball has looked like the worst defender out on the court both games. He's yet to score a single basket that was contested, literally, go back to all his made baskets so far. His misses have been way off and ugly. He can pass for sure but that's it so far from what I've seen. Tatum has looked much better making difficult shots only he can probably hit on a consistent basis as a rookie and that can very easily translate in the pros. Each and every rookies have their flaws but I don't see how Ball's skills will easily translate better than Tatum's.

So you want to see your team leader and floor general take more contested shots? That's your measuring stick for Lonzo? Guy shot 75% on 2P in college and you want to see him take contested jumpers. Okay

Really? Could have swore I saw him hit a 3 over Jaylen Brown, drive to the basket and switch to his left in mid-air for a contested layup, and back a guy down in the post for a spin move off the backboard. Maybe I was dreaming that.

Anyway, it's not his scoring that will translate, it's his passing. He can step on an NBA regular season court tomorrow and drop dimes against just about anyone.

Tatum has obvious offensive skill, but he's a square peg in a round hole in today's NBA. He's an iso ball dominant player who is not going to have the luxury of being the center of attention on a Celtics team with Isaiah Thomas and Gordon Hayward, but he's not a guy you can camp out in the corner to kick out to because he can't hit the 3-ball. Not to mention, who does he defend?

It looks great in summer league, and the skill is obviously there, but it's not going to translate well. At least not in year 1.

He's shot a couple so far and bricked them badly. He's bricked wide open shots as well. I'm just using what I've seen from him in the summer league so far and it's not all that impressive especially if Lakers fans are trying to throw shade at Tatum when he's clearly looked better as a a prospect thus far.

No his 3 was wide open against Brown, he had all day to shoot that. He's made 2 outside shots that were completely wide open in 2 games and missed a dozen in the process. He can pass but he needs to add a hell a lot more than just passing for a #2 pick. You think Ball's skills in passing will translate but Tatum's scoring will not? Lol ok. The only knock on Tatum's game offensively is he doesn't have a great 3 point shot yet but the iso game with him scoring consistently shouldn't be viewed negatively. Guys who can make tough baskets is a pretty good sign to me. If all Ball is going to do is pass, it's not going to look good for the Lakers. He needs to do way more. Nearly every point guard in this league can pass, Ball can make it look more flashy but it's not going to translate to success for him and the team if he can't be a threat scorer. His flaws are way more noticeable than Tatum which is why he's being criticized.

ISO scoring doesn't translate to wins in today's NBA. Again, Tatum has obvious skill, and he shouldn't have a problem scoring in the NBA if he's in the right system, but at what cost? Rudy Gay will give you an easy 20 a night but he's not going to do it on a contending team. Carmelo is probably Tatum's absolute best-case scenario and he's been past the second-round twice, and the NBA has changed A LOT since Carmelo's prime. Tatum is not a guy you can build an offense around if you want to contend, and if you're not building your offense around him he's not really doing much else to make himself useful.
