Considering how productive Simmons already is, it wouldn't surprise me if he retires with the best all-round stats in NBA history.
He's only a rookie and already has PEAK LeBron's all-rounds stats (but with less PPG)....

Yeah...but POINTZZZ!

But, seriously...Simmons is the POINT GUARD for a team that will likely not only be in the playoffs, but is gunning for homecourt. Not only is he producing the numbers above, he is doing it with All-Defense level defense (Sixers are # 3 in NBA in defensive rating).

Mitchell is having a great offensive season, but he is a volume scorer who is taking 20+ shots a game to get his points. If the Jazz make the playoffs, he will be a key factor in that...but it is still an open question as to whether they will get there.

Frankly, looking at the post above, it drives me crazy that this ROY contest is viewed as close.

Can't agree with that. LBJ is at 26+/8+/8+ the last two seasons. Utterly unreal.

But I was referring to Peak LeBron, not current LeBron.
LeBron's peak was when he was playing great defense, clearly not the last 2 years.
The fact that he's now a slacker on defense helps him save energy to produce his current high stats.
LeBron's peak years were in Miami.
In the 4 years LeBron played in Miami: 7.3rpg 7.1apg 1.6spg 0.8bpg
Ben Simmons: 7.7rpg 7.4apg 1.9spg 0.9bpg
I don't mention PPG because my previous post mentions "but with less PPG".

It would be a bit weird if Simmons does not get the award given his historic all-round stats. However, I wouldn't mind too much. It didn't hurt Embiid any. In fact, if he doesn't get it, it might light a flame under his butt and work even harder on developing a reliable jumpshot to prove his doubters wrong. He has also picked up his game after the All Star snub. Might make him even hungrier.

From that tweet Simmons is the only player in the nba with min 900/400/400/100/50.

Thats just ridiculous and can't be right.

Well only 4 people in the league have 400 assists right now. Harden and Lebron don't have 100 steals. Westbrook and harden don't have 50 blocks.

Why does the national media continue to downplay Simmons game? Brendan Haywood on NBA TV just picked Mitchell for ROY because he scores 2 PPG more on "great percentages" while leading the Jazz to wins, while putting no effort in describing what Simmons has done. Multiple people across ESPN have used the same arguments without bringing up any type of stats/facts that favor Simmons for the award.

Is this the media trying to bash the process? Is it because Simmons is from Australia?

To me it is mind boggling, does anyone see this bias as well?

I’ve noticed this and recently I’ve considered the possibility that it’s because he’s from Australia. Either that or media people just hate Philly players. If Ball had Simmons numbers, he would have #1 made the all star game and #2 would already be a heralded superstar apparent.

idiots in sports media still bring up ben's 0-10 from the 3 point line. (he hasn't shot any 3 pointers all season, only full court or half court shots to beat the clock before a quarter or a half)

Some really awkward looking shots and sloppy ball handling nearly cost the Jazz the win against a very bad Mavs team.

In any case, Mitchell was the leading scorer in the game and the best player on the floor. It's pretty rare for a rookie to lead his team to the playoffs, if that's indeed what happens.

Jazz will not make the playoffs....

There a couple games back with a tough 2 coming up. They also looked really average against pretty bad Mavs team.

You sure about that? They've won 12 of their last 13 games, they have the easiest remaining schedule of any of the teams competing for the bottom 5 spots, and they're only 3 games behind the #5 seed.

Here's scoring highlights of Simmons from his first 20 games. I'm going to make a complete hour-long montage including his blocks, scoring, and transcendent passing after the season is over, but I wanted to show off the truncated version of it here.

Also, ignore the shot at Markkanen at the end of the video. That part is a just a joke I put in for a Bulls fan that I know.

Yeah lets not get ahead of ourselves. Lebron was runner up for DPOY in 2013, and was 6x All-Defensive team. Lebron at the same age was averaging 31.4ppg 7rpg 6.6apg 1.6spg .bpg with a higher TS%, was a 2-time All-Star, All-NBA 1st team, runner up MVP, etc..

I would not be surprised if it is to "sell" this race. That is, media people love having talking point issues and given that Simmons is ahead, it is not in their interest to keep on speaking about Simmons being ahead. Fabricating a debate storyline leads to ratings, which is ultimately everything for these networks.

Tonight was a perfect example of Simmons' floor

16/8/8/1/1 while being a long way from his best

They are not idiots. Lack of 3 point shooting is a big hole in Simmons' game. Same with the inability to make free throws. Simmons is an exciting player with a ton of potential. It is fair to point out those things that are holding him back from taking the next step as a basketball player.

Well, they can probably tell that the difference between 19.7 PPG and 16.7 isn't 2. They are also probably aware that Mitchell started slow and has been averaging 22PPG over the last 3 months, while Simmonds is averaging around 16. Which is a more significant gap than 2.

And they respect that Mitchell is his teams #1 option while Embiid is his team's #1 option and that increases the amount of defensive pressure Mitchell faces.

I have great respect for Simmonds, but if you are going to be calling others out for bias, at least use proper numbers.

Embiid is the team’s #1 scoring option, Simmons still scores a lot while being the team’s #1 play initiator and facilitator. He touches and passes the ball most in the league. He’s also among the league’s best perimeter defenders.

Which analysts ignore, which was ultimately his point.

DoMi is the rookie of the year.

Ben Simmons is the best player playing their 'first' year in the league this year, but he is NOT a rookie.
