Yea, and most people evaluating players and the game are awful and wrong. Your point?

Curry at best is a top 15-20 player. He’s not in that range where this is a major blow to his legacy, that’s kind of reserved for top 12 players..

Also, technically the Warriors were a playoff team at the 8th seed and under regular circumstances, he’d be getting ready for the Jazz, not playing the lakers and Memphis

Which GOAT list player has won with an awful team? Surely not Jordan or lebron

If they didn’t want to be in the play in, simply win more games. The idea the season is decided by one game is absolutely ridiculous. They had their chance with the season to make the playoffs. They had another chance in the first play in game. They have another chance tonight.

Anyone complaining about being in the play in can simply more games. This is a professional sports league and I cannot believe how whiny people get at the idea of competition.

16/30 teams make the playoffs which is too many for my liking anyways. As far as I’m concerned, you haven’t done enough to guarantee the playoffs if you’re not one of the top 6 teams. I like it so much better this way.

So let the 17-20th teams get into the playoffs? Lol what

What do you mean? The GOAT list is filled with players who were on great teams. Hakeem is probably the only player in the top 10 who didn't have a superstar teammate. Maybe Duncan too

Not without winning the play in a tournament. It is meaningfully different than getting an auto pass into the playoffs. Being a 9 or 10 is also meaningfully different than being a 7 or 8. Making automatic entrance into the playoffs more exclusive rewards the teams that won enough games to avoid it.

9 and 10 is much different than 7 or 8 which is much different than 5 or 6. When positioning matters enough to incentivize teams to get into the next tier, it is a working system. The play in does this very successfully. There is so much more incentive to win games whether thats getting into 9/10, 7/8, or 5/6.

So do it for the 5th and 6th seeds then. You don't get to complain about 16 teams making the playoffs when the 20th best team with a losing record can get into the playoffs if they win 2 games in a row. It combines the worst part of the NBA playoffs (too many teams) and the worst part of the MLB playoffs (too few games)

Interested in the ratings for this game. Thread is up to 68 pages. Lakers warriors to 110.
Seems like Steph is the biggest draw in the NBA for casuals still. Compared to the Lakers finals last year.

I don't think another game this playoffs until the finals will get to 110 pages. Shows the star power of curry and LeBron.

Not hating on Steph at all, but this was the game where he truly had to step up very early in the game to demoralize the grizz. Similar to lbj in 2012 against the celtics game 6 (not a lebron comparison, just using an example of what I mean).
The longer this game went on, the more those double and triple teams by young athletic grizz players were going to wear curry down.
At one point he was just waiting in the corners, not cause he was shying away from the pressure, but cause the energy wasnt there to keep going and there were no alternatives on offense.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Ja played well, but I think this game made it clear he isn’t physically ready for the playoffs. He can get some experience this year, but in the offseason I hope he gets even stronger. If he can finish better through contact, he will be unstoppable.

Warriors need to change something up. Steph for Kemba makes some sense.

Or they could go the younger route, and trade him for Brunson! I don't see how that wouldn't work out for them!

Grizzlies with superb defense on Curry, but man, no way they can do that with Utah whose personnel 1 through 15 ain't afraid to let the 3 ball fly

Rewatched the last few minutes of the 4th.

WTF were Memphis thinking by not challenging the Poole 3 point kick out? That could’ve lost the game for them.

WTF was Kerr doing not fouling down 3 with a 4 second gap between shot clock and game clock?

Saul Goodman wrote:The Curry slander is completely nuts. That Warriors team sans curry is 2012 Charlotte Bobcats bad and he dragged it single handedly to the play in.

Half of teams in NBA are like this. Take Trae off his team and they see massive dip, Take Booker of his team they see massive dip, take Westbrook/Beal off their team they see massive dip, and several teams in past.... Also they aren't 2012 Bobcats bad. They had just the worst offense in the league in last 4 seasons without Curry on the floor. Which is very respectable offense for a team with 1 superstar and no other all-stars. Harden has multiple teams with worse supporting cast. Issue is Curry is was averaging abysmal amount of assists combined with extreme turnover rate and piss poor assist to turnover rate.
Pennebaker wrote:And Bird did it while being a defensive liability. But he also made All-Defensive teams, which was another controversial issue regarding Bird and votes.
