Reggie Jackson isn't very good. Not sure why "Playoff Powell" didn't get more minutes in a must-win game. Lue must be worried about upsetting egos for next year.

It's mostly because KAT was horrendouspicc wrote:I am amazed that Minnie won this game. They did not look like the better team to me most of the night. They pulled it off through sheer will.

We already saw that with RandlePrinceAli wrote:Can you imagine if KAT played in a market like NY and absolutely folded like this? Like it’s already gonna be terrible for him in the media throughout the week but it would be 10x worse in a major market

Yup especially considering the franchise. Wolves have been the second worst franchise in the league for the last 20 years (sorry Kings), getting the playoffs is actually a big deal for themBlack star wrote:Honestly I much prefer a little excessive celebration over a "nothing matters but the championship" attitude. A young team won a big game and I'm glad they are excited about it. This Wolves Grizzlies series should be a lot of fun

Screw him. I'm still glad we traded him. Matter of fact I'm glad he made this video so all the Clipp fans who would say how they still miss him on the team can now finally STFU!!
You can be glad all you want…but he’s a point guard, and after Reggie..you don’t have one. Your wing depth is insane….but is it too many guys that have the same skill sets ?

But after that, Finch has done an amazing job mixing a bunch of one-way players with limited skills into an effective team. Vanderbilt is skinny and had no offensive game, allowing teams to leave him unguarded and double-team KAT - now he has a few moves to punish that coverage. Beasley was much criticized, but he’s been the best volume three point shooter in the league since Jan 1, and we see him actually play defense a bit. Taurean Prince and Jordan McLaughlin were out of the rotation, but have played major roles. Naz Reid and Jaylen Nowell are minimum contract guys who have developed to become important parts of the team.
While Shaq and Barkley were railing about what a horrible coach Finch was, others have mentioned him in Coach of the Year discussions. The Wolves have no size, and for years were a consistent bottom-5 defensive team before Finch, but have outperformed everyone’s expectations with player development, buying into defense, and Finch’s ability to put some limited players in positions to succeed.
Sometimes it's hard to quantify "good coaching."
I think it's easier to rip coaches than find ways to praise them. It's easy to see that Finch left Towns out there with 3 fouls in the first half or that the other team scored (xxx) points. You don't have to look at the nuances of the game for that take.
Just check out this thread and the TNT telecast last night. Very very few people have actually watched the Timberwolves play much, if at all. So we see multiple posts about the "horrible" coaching from Fitch... sans Timberwolves fans who've actually seen the longer term impact of his coaching, and more importantly, just how terrible coaching can be. Consider:
- The Timberwolves were the 6th rated offensive team. And 13th rated defensive team. Let's look closer at the defense. Here's where the Wolves ranked on defense in recent seasons: (28), (24), (27), (27), (28), (30).
- And it's not by accident. The Timberwolves play a very unique style on defense with more blitzing than the other teams. It leads to more TOs but more open three pointers.
- The Wolves are moving on in large part because of its defense down the stretch.
- The Wolves are moving on despite being down 10 in the 4th with a career-worst game from its only All Star player.
- Yet nobody sans Timberwolves fans knows or cares about this stuff. So nobody is going to praise the coach they don't know while watching a team they don't know. Instead we get "terrible coaching" and "dumb players" takes.

Beverley is not a playmaker. The Clippers aren't missing a player like Beverley. Neither him or even Reggie are primarily playmakers when the stars are healthy. They bring the ball up the floor and are secondary playmakers to George and when Kahwi is around, third. Mann is able to perform that role, and Powell can also help out there. Bev is not the type of player the Clippers are missing for the price.
For the Wolves though, he's 100% the type of player they need for that price and has been good for them.

Beverly is basically a miniature small forward. It might have been less noticeable on the Clips (where everyone is a small forward), or in Houston (where not handling the ball was a prerequisite next to Harden), but in Minny, he's so clearly the scrappy 3, next to Russell and Edwards. He guards 3s at least as often as Edwards does, and the only guy he does more playmaking/ballhandling than is Jarred Vanderbilt.

Considering they won that with some very suspect calls and Towns in very early foul trouble, I think he has a right to. And I am zero percent a Beverly fan. And... it is the Clippers after all.

D'lo acting like the elder statesman.
Kat kissing and hugging his woman on the sideline.
Pat Beverly crying.
Ant-man whooping it up with the crowd.
It was awesome (good for the wolves) funny (it;s a play in game).

I don’t think he was a playmaker for LAC, because he wasn’t asked to be, considering all of the Clippers talent. He has been a playmaker in MIN, and has put up some very good pick-and-roll numbers that really surprised a lot of people - me included. Beverley has been effusive in how much he loves being in Minnesota (we rarely hear that from a new player), and one of the big reasons he says is because he gets to do more than his role with the talented LAC teams, where he was basically only asked to play defensive and stand at the three point line for catch-and-shoot three’s.
I also wanted to mention that despite his postgame tweet, Beverley loves the Clippers players, but he was bitter that the front office didn’t give him a bigger role and pay him. If I recall, he tried to engage with the owner courtside, during a regular season game this year. PatBev is still best friends with many of the players, particularly Zubac.

wow, you ever told me I'd be looking forward to Minnesota Timberwolves vs Memphis Grizzlies playoff series
sucks JA is not 100% and rolling. Maybe he is rested and ready because I would love to see that kid just stuff it on Beverly a few times
I wonder if there is more to why they shipped hm out after like 6 days when he was part of a trade package?

The thing about celebrating and having a good time in sports is if you don't do it in the moment when the emotion hits you when are you going to do it? Tomorrow...two weeks later? Next season?
For everyone saying it's embarrassing for the wolves, remember every time you miss out on a chance to smile and have a good time. That time is gone never to be repeated again. And if it is embarrassing it's a learning experience too.

I was embarrassed for you when you created this account to troll the Wolves board, posing as a Wolves fan who couldn’t even hold your cover story for three posts. More embarrassing was that you kept coming back for weeks after being banned again and again. I worry that you don’t have friends in real life, if you have the time and inclination to put so many hours in, trying to get attention.
186 posts? Yikes. I’m sorry for you, kid.
