My thoughts exactly. Bynum isnt a franchise guy and I wouldnt consider building around him post Kobe. Renting Howard for a year to entice him to stay and possibly get a ring 12-13 season is a better bet.

As of this morning, Dwight had yet to reassess his position that he'd only sign with Brooklyn if traded, league source said.

With Brooklyn possibilities diminished with Joe Johnson trade, will be interesting to see if Howard expands his list.

The Nets, meanwhile, remain confident that if things are done in the right order, they can offer Magic enough cap relief to make deal work.

As I noted in the HOOPSWORLD Free Agent Diary - Lakers would still shop Pau if they acquired Howard http://bit.ly/9RjigH - more so even

Bynum is a FA next summer too. Couldn't the Magic just hold onto Dwight all season long and then go after Bynum in FA?

Yea...but the Lakers can still do the deal with the Nets if he doesnt resign. And start off with some nice young pieces!

Dude, are you bball stupid? Brook Lopez isnt a nice young piece. If he was Orlando would have done a deal for him already. Im sure LA would rather have the cap space than give an elite player to a team already loaded with talent for Brook Lopez and Marshon Brooks

Most likely Bynum resigns with Lakers.

I didn't think things were that rosey between Bynum and the team.

Lakers need to call Atlanta and make that Gasol/Smith deal, possibly involve Minny.

That sounds pretty stupid.

the relationship with Howard has gone sour, you think they should keep him all season and then risk another team coming in to steal Bynum in FA, when they can get him right now ?

Oh no, not a bulging disk! Let's not forget Bynum has glass knee's as well, this is all posturing from LA side. If it's Dwight for Bynum straight up, of course LA f'n does it.

Pretty sure it's Dwight the one who doesn't want to sign an extension with LA. Not ORL holding it up.

But let's not play ignorant. Bynum isn't the only player in 2013 FA where you can spend your money. "Risk" losing him to another team is not even a big deal. Plus, considering his long history of injury, he's a huge risk. The Magic could watch how his chronic knee problems hold up this season and then make a decision to go for him in FA or not. Getting him now or later... the Magic would be in rebuilding mode regardless.

Lakers Have 'Growing List Of Concerns' About Dealing For Howard
Jul 03, 2012 3:21 PM EDT

While the Lakers do appear to be in play for Dwight Howard, they also have a 'growing list of concerns' on actually acquiring him, according to a source.

Howard underwent season-ending back surgery on a bulging disk and it is unclear if he would actually sign a contract extension after privately saying he didn't want to play for the Lakers.

why are you getting annoyed.

LA is just trying to lower Howard's value, they are actually doing everybody a favor but getting this stuff out to the media.
