In his prime, Jonas Valanciunas will be Pau Gasol 2.0 with toughness

Jonas won't be D12 or Bynum but he's top-tier in his age-group and will put up better numbers than Kanter who will be in his second year.

When you think in terms of age and capability then Jonas' future is very bright.

Kanter hasn't played competitive basketball for 2 years and averaged those stats by playing 13 mins per game

Lots of Cavs fans and Jazz fans in here that care so much about Val for some reason. So your teams drafted the wrong big man in last year's draft, so what. It's no big deal.

Well according to Raptor fans Jonas is a rookie of the year candidate. From what I've seen he is nowhere close to Anthony Davis though so not sure about that.

He is, but it'll take time for him to develop. Anthony Davis is more skilled in terms of defensive instincts and ball-handling ability. JV has more length and a greater motor than Davis. Davis is obviously the better prospect, but I wouldn't say that JV is too far off. Both will be good/great basketball players in the NBA. To get perspective, JV will be better than guys like Nene and Noah.

Bat, who started the thread, is the only Jazz fan who posted about Val in this thread (hoops4life commented on an off-hand remark about Favors being a bust) and I think he presented a pretty fair and unheated argument.

It was a Raptors fan (or maybe just a JV fan) who brought up the Kanter/Val comparison.

Don't see him being more than another Dalembert level C

I cant believe in this thread. Excluding fouls, hes been playing well. Its the coaching job whats bad... WTF? I cant believe JV is the one to blame. What a shame.

And how can JV turn out as Tskitishvili? Please explain? What a garbage comment. Its like comparing Anthony Davis to Hasheem Thabeet. Why? Because Davis sitting on the bench in these Olympics and also he played college ball just like Thabeet you see... Tskitishvili is absolute scrub, who ended up in Iran, Jonas was 19 year old last season, and already was one of the better C's in Europe. I think he has the best touch around the rim and is best rebounder. Elite pick and roll player, shot blocker, has great BB IQ, hands and lateral quickness.

People, do you even know why you dont like Jonas?

I'm pretty sure Tskitishvili failed in NBA because no one could pronounce his name.

It is definitely a reach, but not as big as calling him next Tsiki... Jonas is much better than Tsiki already, So its just impossible, will he be next Pau, probably not, we'll see. Jonas is completely overrated everywhere, but at the end of the day, he still remains one of the best, arguably the best Center prospect today. That is all you need to know.
