According to a report, Kidd is expected to hire two former head coaches as his main assistants.

This move is all good for the Nets.

They get their franchise leader back from their glory days
They get a person that Dwill is very close with
They make a splash in the media
The Nets are now going to be a must watch team next season.

There really is nothing to lose.

Shaw and Hollins were never locks for the Nets job anyway and this hire is at least fresh and innovative in terms of the man just retired.

I like the boldness of this move.

Its gonna be so weird seeing Kidd on the bench in a suit directing his team & all that.

I feel like we've fast forwarded like 5 years into the future.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Dude hasn't even been retired for more than a month. No experience. Win-now team

Really?

Even though he's well-liked/respected. Would guys like Deron/Joe Johnson/Wallace see him as "one of the guys" and tune him out at times?

I see it like me working with my best friends..and then all of a sudden he gets promoted to president lol

stop it. this is not a win now team.

 So they're an up and coming team? Deron/Joe/Wallace aren't young

Avery wasn't the coach in the playoffs. It was P.J. Carlesimo. Sitting an All-Star for an entire 4th quarter for no reason should be an automatic firing, but they waited until the season was over.

Yes, I know that, but it irritates me how this team can't appreciate the presence of a good coach. Yet, they keep getting let off the hook each time.

Are you calling Avery Johnson and PJ Carlesimo good coaches? If you've watched every Nets game like us Nets fans, you would understand.

Oops. Brain freeze...

I'll accept this hire for the Nets. If Kidd can get Deron Williams to play well again, I will be elated. Thats clearly the motivation here.

We need Deron to play like a super star. Better than hes ever played before.

If that's why they hired him, they are stupid. Deron and Lopez carried the Nets to a 33-19 record under the worst adjustment coach I've ever seen in my life in PJ.

We need the ENTIRE team to play to their strengths and play together. The Nets could have been so much better if Avery didn't ruin Marshon Brooks and if PJ could have developed Tyshawn Taylor, Mirza Teletovic and used Blatche as a Power Forward instead of Reggie Evans.

That's the type of coaching needed. Not a Deron Williams coach.

Hopefully he won't drink and drive and beat on his wife during this stint.

"win now" implies that they can win something. i think thats what he was implying

As a player Kidd has impeccable credentials. But, I remember a hall of fame point guard who joined the coaching ranks about 12 years ago. he enjoyed modest success as a coach, graduated to the front office and is now a punchline. A year after retirement from playing Iaiah Thomas was a pretty respected guy. Being a great player does not guarantee that you wil be even an average coach.

Is Jason Kidd closer to Mark Jackson or Isiah Thomss?

I am surprised to see him get hired a year removed from playing basketball.

I believe he was being sarcastic since Kidd was terrible last year.

Less than a month even.
Heard he's had this in mind for some time and leaving $6m behind from the Knicks somewhat validates that.

Ah...just got the joke.

I'd normal go and say that the Nets can't go and speak to a player employed by the Knicks to swoon him in retirement and to join the other team while under contract......but I am also happy we don't have him for 2 more years with his 6 million dollar contract.
