The fact that there's such a high chance of getting injured is why the NFL doesn't have guaranteed contracts.. It is there to protect the teams.

Any team that takes that contract and cap hit is in trouble. The Nets gave up a lot to get him, and now they'll have to give up a lot to get rid of him. Just not a good situation.

Maybe DWill can go to the Knicks in a package deal that brings back Amare and Ray Felton. Then you have DWill and Carmello with a new coach.

Congrats Amare, you're finally not the worse contract in the NBA anymore

Has anyone also heard from a legit source?

I'm sure the Nets would love to trade him, but I don't think he has requested a trade. The Nets posted a video of him on IG a few hours ago where he says "we definitely want another go at."

So we are suppose to believe this source over what Deron is on video saying? When no legitimate sources like a Woj has said he wants out?

Yeah seriously, buy low. I'd take a shot at D.Will, change his roll that he had on Steam.

Zeke calling Deron a system point guard on First Take in front of a massive tv viewership might have been the nail in the coffin for him.

The NBA would be so much better if the amnesty clause was an annual thing. Players would get to keep their money anyway, and they wouldn't be stuck with teams that don't want them

That's pretty harsh on the Clippers. They only lost in the second round.

Brooklyn doesn't even have picks to stash on to his deal and make a trade. I didn't think anyone could one up Joe Johnson but he's ended up being not even the worst deal on his own team.

As a Celtics fan, I really hope they don't find a way unless it completely destroys their team over the next couple of seasons.

Talking strictly about 2nd round exit teams. And out of all the playoff teams this year, nets are the worst going forward.

are they? they can reset in a couple years, with 30+ million in cap room.

hwo do the pacers get better? over the cap and maybe losing stephenson, they could treadmill from here

raptors, are about to resign lowry, and lock themselves into a derozan/lowry/jval core that could also very easily treadmill

the bulls can get better, getting melo would be big for them

i dont see why the nets future is painted so bleak. since when is a playoff team not having draft picks such a huge deal? i can under stand like the knicks, a non playoff team with no picks... cause they are actually missing out on the lotto

so the nets treadmill for 2 years, make the playoffs, then make a run at some stars in 2016.

its not like we are some small market teams locked into 3rd tier players on 4 or 5 year deals

So do you think it is worth the upcoming years of futility for the "success" of this season? Pierce, KG, Livingston, and D-Will are likely gone. Brook is a huge question mark. Joe is on the books until 2016 at superstar money.

I'd rather lose 70 games and keep my pick because at least I might draft a stud in the draft and have flexibility going forward.

of course... 100000% and it isnt even close:

being in the playoffs + advancing > losing and praying about draft picks.

ive seen this team hold on to draft picks and try and build that way. and that takes a ton of luck. and if there is one thing this team doesnt have, its luck. even when we have struck gold in the draft (buck williams, Bernard King, Derrick Coleman, Kenny Anderson, Lopez) it hasnt worked out for us for one reason or another. And then there are the countless draft busts we have had(dennis hopson, o'koren, yinka dare, ed obannon).

everyone likes to think that tanking and getting a top 3 pick cures all. but even if you get the #1 pick in a draft with stars it is still a VERY long road to get into playoff contention. OKC is the exception, not the rule, and even they were terrible for 3 or so years after drafting durant.

maybe some fair weather fans are only happy if their team wins a title. but i watch every game every year. every preseason game, every regular season game, every playoff game. and its a whole lot better when you win 45 games then when you win 15 games.

Remeber when then nets lost 70 games? what did that get us. Derrick Favors. Derrick favors is a nice player, but derrick favors isnt leading anyone to title contention. i know we traded, but lets say we didnt. are we really turning favors into the cornerstone of success?

look at the jazz, they got favors and antoher #3 overall pick from us(turned in to kanter) where did that get them. 2 more lottery picks later and where are they? back in the lottery again. lets say they get jabari parker this year, where are they then? probably still not in the playoffs.

if your asking me if id rather have 45 wins and an old vet team vs. 70 losses and the # 1 pick im going to take the 45 wins. cause we have had the #1 pick a few times, and it has rarely panned out for us. and the 1 time it did(kenyon martin) it was more because of a trade (for jason kidd) then it was kenyon martin

sure, lets give big market teams another advantage... just overpay everyone and not pay the consequences

no one.

only trade i see remotely possible is:

Dwill

for

Jennings + Josh smith

The only option i can see yeah.. I'd also try to get rid of Livingston and Blatche, and try to sign some vets or decent roleplayers on the cheap, one who can play as a backup PG and one who protects the paint. Plus do everthing you can to convince Pierce and KG for another run.. Also people should know that KG and Pierce like Smith alot.

Starters: Jennings, Johnson, Pierce, Smith, Lopez..
Bench: backup PG(little nate?), Anderson, Teletovic, Kirilenko, KG + another backup C.

I have to say this is a solid lineup, plus the Nets already have a very decent bench, just need to add another difference maker, and you could do that with the money you save on Livingston. If you can convince Smith he isn't a good shooter and should attack the rim, then you'll have a borderline Allstar on your team. Plus i like the combo of Smith + Lopez, Smith could cover some of Lopez's defensive deficiencies.

You say get rid of livingston to sign a cheap backup PG. thats exactly what livingston is. Also, getting rid of blatche and livingston have nothing to do with our ability to get cheap veterans. we have the same to spend pretty much either way.

As far as KG, even if he doesnt retire the nets should buy him out. we need plumlee to start and get minutes, not waste those with KG.

that team would be awful. Talk about a slow team with awful defense. we saw how bad williams/lopez combo was defending the pick and roll, now its jennings and a lopez coming off season ending injury defending it? Pierce at SF isnt a great idea defensively.

Lopez needs to be traded. he is a losing player coming off injury. get rid of him
