You should probably get a new sig then.

You're only the 9th person to say that. :)

Early Top 8 in the East projections.

Post#142 » by RTM » Mon Jul 14, 2014 4:16 pm

The picture is fluid this early. Right now, I think the teams are generally grouped like this;

Tier 1: Chicago, Cleveland, Indiana

Tier 2: Toronto, Washington, Miami

Tier 3: Atlanta, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Detroit, New York

Tier 4: Boston, Orlando, Milwaukee, Philadelphia

Some knick fans believe they can be as high as the 4 seed guys... aren't we all being a little unfair towards the knicks?

Most? Be careful when you're using that word. I'm not sure you know what it really means.

It's such an abrupt change. We need a transition team name to get acclimated. I suggest Horncats or Bobets.

lots of the so called experts on espn thought that.
I remember a panel that had around 10-12 'pundits' and only one picked the
Wizards to win that series.

I'll wait and see what happens with Lance. That's a pretty big deal. Difference in Indiana being a 1-3 seed and 5-8, IMO. Could also be the difference in potential suitors like Atlanta/Charlotte making the jump.

Uhm just about every analyst picked the Wizards from what I remember.

Well everything hinges on Rose, obviously. But this is the most talent any Thibodeau team has had. Barring serious injury, they're going to be some form of very good or great.

I fail to see how this Bulls team has more talent than the 2011 team with MVP Rose, a prime Boozer and Deng.
What talent does this team have? Butler? a 34 YO Gasol? is Gibson a "talent" now?

Prime Boozer? Prime Boozer was back in Utah son.

This is definitely the most talented bunch, from top to bottom, assuming Rose is 75% of 2011 Rose. That's a big assumption.

They need some help on the wings, but they have a top 3 frontcourt in the NBA.

Even so, I think #1 seed is too lofty. Top 3 in the east. Knicks will get a top three pick.

I guess I'm missing something. Other than Rose, where is the "talent" in this roster?

You realize they were a 4 seed without Rose, right? Pau is an upgrade from Boozer, Noah was DPOY and allstar, and Butler and Gibson aren't done growing. Then you throw in Doug, best player from Europe in Mirotic, and uhh, yeah, that's the talent. Not to mention a top 3 coach.

How was this team a 4 seed then if there was no talent?

I'm gonna guess you're a JR Smith fan and think he is talented. He can Score!

The Nets got worse this off-season...how are they now better than the Raptors who added two quality rotation players in Lou Williams and James Johnson?

Lost Livingston and Pierce. Garnett is a year older. Lopez and Williams coming off of major surgeries.

Lopez and Jack could in theory replace Pierce and Livingston's production. The Nets were better than the Raptors after they went small 1/1/14 and on and were better when it mattered most, the playoffs.

There's two schools of thought with the Nets that make them so hard to pencil in:
DWill/Johnson/Wallace/Evans/Lopez and a terrible bench outside Blatche won 49 games

There's more talent around those 3 players this season, but bigger question marks, namely the health of DWill and Lopez. If Lopez plays 70+ games they'll be in the playoffs, if he doesn't they'll be fighting to get in.

The problem is they can't go small with both Brook and KG playing. D-Will is also not the same player he once was.
But I believe that Hollins is a very good coach and you'll probably be in the play-offs once again.

They have Anthony Randolph.
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

Noah, Gibson, Butler, Pau and possibly McDermott are all better than the Knicks' second best player.

Not going to argue the Knicks here (even though your statement is absurd), but other than Noah (depending on Health), none of those guys fit any reasonable definition of talent.
