People think, "oh first round pick", but in reality, a late first round pick isn't likely to come and make an immediate impact. I think the Cavs have done a great job turning Waiters into 3 key rotation guys while addressing major holes.

have you seen the protections on that Memphis pick?
wouldn't be shocking at all for that to be a lottery pick

This can't be overstated.

Sure it can. There's a chance that it's a lotto pick but it's far from likely. It won't be conveyed this year, and next year the only chance it is if Gasol leaves and the rest of the team falls off. Overstating that possibility would be putting it at higher than 20% or so. Most likely scenario is that Gasol stays, the rest of the team stays decent, and it's a pick in the late teens or 20s in 2017.

They addressed needs but they've fired all their guns. Really need Mozgov to stay healthy and JR to not be JR.

Don't they still have that Brendan Haywood $10.5mil non-guaranteed contract?

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2014/11/due_to_his_contract_situation.html

Plus I believe Cleveland still has a couple more 1st rounders and some 2nd rounders to trade.

Next summer is when it spikes to $10.5 mil unguaranteed. They have a few 2nds but owe their next year pick to Boston and owe a pick swap to Chicago this year.

Who knows what they'll get on paper, but I think this means Denver will win the lottery next year.

HU? Because they gave up Mozgov? Lol. Even if you believe the NBA lotto is fixed and they reward teams... giving the Cavs a marginal big man does not qualify. If the Lotto is fixed... NYK will be winning it this year.

Nah, I don't believe the lotto is fixed at all. Just riffing on the notion that somehow the Cavs can control the ping pong ball hopper, and they can trade that luck to other teams.

Yes but they don't have 2nd rounders and 2 1sts. That Haywood contract, MLE, J.R. Smith's expiring next year.

I'm sick of this . bulls need to enter this sweepstakes. 2nd round pick to okc for Anthony morrow. If all it takes is a crapy pick to become major contenders. How bout tony Snell for Kevin martin. The gm`s are drunk for already championship teams so why not join in. Waiters got gift wrapped to okc for bordenline trash. Caves lose one player and gain 3 needed players. Hell let's trade taj Gibson for LA Marcus aldridge

yeah they traded one player for a guy that is worse and plays the same while adding another who's likely to bust out of the league and seemingly always injured. Then they replace Verajao with Mozgov when the former is the better of the two. I don't see how they've gotten better at all unless you're really in the business of overvaluing Mozgov.

cavs got a steal. a starting double double C with good defense on a super cheap deal for 2 years. who gives a sht about those 1sts?
denver gets....idk. unless they are planning on consolidating later, they let a valuable piece go for marginal assets.

#Cavs also obtain second round pick from Nuggets in Mozgov trade, per source

You'd think that after the Cavs acquired LeBron and Love and people declared them the best team in the league, they wouldn't be so quick to make the same declarations after acquiring someone to replace an injured player and Iman Shumpert.

They'll also have their pick of ring chasers willing to play for the vet minimum.

Seems like a solid couple of days for the Cavs. Too bad they lost AV for the year. If they still had him, they would be in much better shape.

Bulls need to make a really small move (IMO) to round out the team. A defensive minded 3&D wing....OR.....Tony Snell needs to finally wake the F up.

Sort of off topic but I see people saying Dalembert to Dallas. Dallas cannot do that since they traded him over the summer of 2014. (Stackhouse rule)

Cavs are the clear favorites now. They have the best Euro Center in the East.

Statistically, he's pretty much only better than Varejao at blocking.

It's a band-aid for the team but it will make them a better team. Perhaps not the team they need to be though.

Usually when people talk about if a deal makes a team better they are referring to the team before the trade and the team after the trade. I'm not sure why your definition includes a comparison from before Andy is injured, lol. If the Lakers traded Nash for Westbrook tommorow would that make them better, or is the answer no because that '85/86 team was really stacked?

Who's the "double double C" -?

Mozgov has NEVER averaged that in his career. (which is kinda pathetic)

And late 1st are a lot more valuable then you seem to think they are... ever since the last CBA, the value of 1sts went WAY up.
