No. Signing KJ to 8 million per this summer would be gambling and playing the lottery. Dude was going to be a free agent and he was unproven and going to be paid.

WHo the hell would pay $8 mil to McDaniels? If he is an 8 mil player on the open market you get more than a 2nd round pick for him.

I doubt KJ is gonna get 8 mil a year unless he seriously improves his shooting, ball handling, and consistency In the second half.

The Sixers have more picks than Jay Cutler.

They are either stockpiling to build a young talented core from the ground up and hope to have the same success OKC did drafting 3 of the top 10 players in the league today in a row.

Or they are stockpiling picks to poach a star from another team.

Nah man they absolutely can. They just have to pretend like they have always valued MCW so much.

now if you want to argue the logic of the KJ trade, i'm with you.

Does "good value" always have to be lottery balls though?

The worst thing about the Sixers is that they make Barkleys position look valid. If "analytics" led to this team building process then yes..analytics are a total joke. No good player is going to go there willingly in free agency and no drafted talent will reach their potential in that environment. Even if by some miracle a Carmelo/Dwight/CP3 level player hits the trade market which sometimes (althought very rarely) happens, they'd still be 7 pieces and a coaching staff away from contender status. Embarrassing

There might be a few here who do not like the MCW trade but it seem more people are shocked by the KJ trade.

Even though realgm have serious moodswings when it comes to players, I think you have to notice the posters who are saying these things. Those who do not like nor value MCW as a good player are probably not the ones who think Hinklie was wrong for trading him. I think one groups becomes more vocal then another depending on the situation and that is what gives us the perception of extreme opinions on this forum.

I really don't know anything about either player but I wish Orlando went after KJ. I liked him from what I've seen in the few games he played against us.

This argument clearly has no legs. Ive always thought mcw was a bad pickup and philly fans were defending him. I think philly got a great deal with that lakers 1st so whos the one adjusting their opinion now? Hehe 4Head

Well really the Bucks were bad for one year and a ton of guys had the worst season of their careers to get them there. The Bucks are back where they were 2 years ago (remember no one had them losing that many games last year before the season began). Philly is just trading all talent no matter why (KJ was a great player that should've been retained and MCW was traded for peanuts) and I don't think that's a good way to build a team up unless you get super lucky like Houston did and I'm not assuming everyone will get that lucky.

Honestly the Bucks were an anomaly last season. Something was going on that we don't know about. That team was too good to be a 15 win team.

i don't think any Sixers fans ever claimed he was a superstar. It's not a crime to like him but also recognize this trade has a chance to be great for us.
I also believe Hinkie is probably targeting Russell or Mudiay with our 1st pick this year, so MCW becomes a little redundant.

I hope he goes to Milwaukee and plays great. No hard feelings toward him at all.

I've advocated for MCW and I consider him to have been an an inopportune situation, as I always have, however you can consider that and still be satisfied with the return.

My only question is why didn't Philly keep Payton?

At the time they probably didn't believe a team would offer such a first round pick for MCW.

I agree with that. I think MCW is going to a great position under Kidd and playing next to giannis and parker. Not good on philly and most teams tho, i still cant believe suns gave up the 1st, ennis, and IT for knight
