What unwritten rule? Isn't this the whole point of the moratorium? This isn't like reneging on a trade, where both sides have agreed to terms. The Clips aren't a party to the Mavs' unwritten agreement w/ Jordan, so they're not bound by it.
Yes, if anyone broke an unwritten rule here it's Deandre. What if the Clips did nothing to reengage until Jordan reached out to someone to say he was having second thoughts? What are they supposed to do? Tell him thanks, you gutted our team but you should keep your word?
How does this differ from Howard when he went back and forth before deciding on Houston?

There's going to be a brawl on DeAndre Jordan's front porch.

I don't blame the Clippers for doing whatever they can to keep him before it becomes official. It's just comical that it took them this long. If they really wanted him that desperately they should've shown it in their meeting. I'm not sure who was in that meeting but I would've made sure CP3 (full from swallowing his pride), Blake, whoever his best friend on the team is, his mama, his dog, his goldfish, were all there in that meeting let him know how much he means to the team. Instead, it seems like all of us outside of the Clippers org were the only ones who knew they weren't squat without DJ. Too little too late.
They definitely should have done the full pitch right from the get go.
I wanted him to re-sign with the Clips, but right now I am hoping DJ just stays with his decision because this whole thing is weak.
I don't think it's wrong or anything, and not sure if there really is an 'unwritten rule' about it. But the Clips made their bed awhile back and now will have to lie in it.
Surely Chandler Parsons will be right outside the door after DJ leaves the meeting anyhow, and apparently you just can't say no to him.

Did LAC start spending DeAndre Jordan's cap hold money already? Are they going to back out of agreements with free agents who agreed to sign there if Jordan does decide to go back to LAC now?

Many around NBA felt Mavs got 2 meetings with DJ since Cuban & agent Dan Fegan are close. @ESPNSteinLine says Clipps will go straight to DJ.
Cutting out the agent is a risky strategy. Unless DJ is firing his current agent, who will sue him, that agent isn't going to like being cut out.

Chandler Parsons & Mark Cuban should go with him. Since there's clearly no rules to this stuff anymore...

It would hurt DA's and the Clippers reputations. Not the agents.
You really couldn't be more wrong. Fegan would get killed over this. Especially when you consider his history with the Mavericks organization.
But he would have to immediately dump Jordan as a client and even then he's going to have a very difficult time convincing teams he had nothing to do with this. Will absolutely hurt him.
If Jordan signs with Clippers, expect Fegan to immediately announce he dropped him. He'd have no other recourse.
If Fegan ends up losing money I would he'd have a case to sue DeAndre too.

I agree. It's just not a professional thing for an employee to do. Of course it happens once in awhile, but later down the road, there will be trust and commitment issues.
As bad as it sounds, if I'm DJ I stay with the Mavs. Say it doesn't work out exactly the way he wants it to and he doesn't become some big time scorer. He can always fall back on the fact that teams will be interested in him for his defense/rebounding/shot-blocking. But he has an opportunity to grow and develop his game and potentially become even more sought out than he is now. Obviously it will be tough since he still is very raw offensively, but you never know, he could take that next step eventually.

Also why would Cuban want to have this snake on his team - to even just agree to meet with LAC after giving his handshake on the agreement? I'd be looking to trade his ass away come December.

I will tell you one thing, either way, Deandre is going to seriously hurt the team that doesnt end up with him.
