IT is kinda annoying, and I didn't think he would be this good. But he is good. Would rate him immediately below top tier of PGs, but def think he's better than teague, wall, even irving. it'll be interesting to see how he fares as teams start to pay more attention to him in the following season and get more game film on him.

He reminds me a lot of Kemba. Both have been amazing this year and are still criminally underrated, I like IT quite a bit.

For sure better:
Curry
Paul
Lillard
Westbrook
Lowry
Wall
In his territory:
Walker
Bledsoe
Conley
Irving
C'mon man...Irving has an injury plagued season and people just start hating on him in masses...
He belongs above Lowry and Wall....not this year specifically, but if at the beginning of next year you were drafting PGs, Irving would be taken before Lowry for sure...he and Wall are on the same level IMO.

Stop it.
He is not better than Irving. That's ridiculous.

It's not ridiculous it's a fact. Thomas is more efficient and a better defender, put Thomas next to LeBron and the Cavs are much closer to a championship than they are now.
Good assessment:

He is having a better season so far, it's starting to become reality. Irving has a chance to shine in these playoffs though, they are 1 and 2 in scoring so far these playoffs.

let me rephrase what I said: I think he's had a better season than irving so far, both have had good playoffs.. Do I think he's a better talent or take him over irving to build a team at this point? No. but I think he's had the better performance this season being the main guy on the team.

He didn't come out of nowhere though, he's been doing this since he came into the league essentially, teams already know what he can do.bigbreakfast wrote:IT is kinda annoying, and I didn't think he would be this good. he's transitioned into the feature guy on a playoff team, his usg rate has increased, and he will be the leading focus of the other team's defensive plans now that he's not playing w/ cousins. i expect adjustment/refinement by teams.

They've had over 100 games of game film to do that now, they've already made adjustments to focus on him, he's just that good.

Yea, if it's taking teams this long, especially since they also had film of him from Sacramento and Phoenix as well as last season in Boston and all this season, then maybe it's just not that easy to contain him. What exactly do you expect teams to do adjustment wise bigbreakfast, and what do you expect to happen to his production?
I'm assuming Boston also plans to add more scoring support for next season anyways.

Re: Just how good is Celtics Isiah Thomas
IT is good sometimes very good. His height is obviously a limitation. The Celtics generally play good D and has gotten him many transition buckets but from a floor spacing perspective they give him hot garbage to work with. More or less the worse open jump shooting team in the league.

I think ppl are really taking notice of him now as boston basically went from a low seed that was swept easily to a 4-5 seed and that'll probably put him under more of a microscope. maybe limit him with aggressive hedging/trapping on defense, or limit open court oppurtunities. with that said, i'll admit I'm also inherently skeptical of this type of player and this is just my bias, but like i said in my OP, he is proving me wrong right now.

Can't help but notice you left off the number one reason the Celtics are where they are....Brad Stevens.
Trade Irving for Thomas straight up and with Stevens still coaching, the Celtics would have won 50 games...or more. He is a good player but he's not on Irving's level.
