Indeed, it's neither here nor there but let's take a look back just for those who don't recall what I brought up.

Howard apparently insisted, according to former ESPN reporter Ric Bucher that the Lakers "fire Mike D'Antoni and amnesty, or at the very least muzzle, Kobe Bryant."

I also seem to recall a report that Howard and Kobe got into a fight that season, I think it was. That report led to this funny picture:

Yeah, so, I don't think Dwight was the biggest Kobe fan in the world and my guess is that influenced his decision to not "stay" in LA. Along with D'Antoni hanging around and whatever other factors may have made Dwight decide to leave.

It was a tumultuous time for the Lakers at that moment. Not sure they knew then, however, the further depths the franchise would sink to in the two years under Scott. Certainly didn't sound like they knew it based upon what Kobe said about Scott.

Oh well. Things seem to be looking up for the Lakers now. And for D'Antoni as well.
Thank you Nico!

dude let's remember bucher was the one who lied and said kobe told him he would never wear a laker uniform again, and bucher was also caught up in a lie more recently. i see where you're going i'm just saying bucher is not someone anyone needs to use for a reference.

Agreed. I'm sure it's why the Rockets are bringing in assistants to take care of that side of the ball.

Heard that one before

Did you hear about the one where the Knicks were 5th in defensive efficiency when Mike Woodson joined Mike D's staff to coach the defense?

Agreed, I can't stand Bucher. There are better sources but it was the first one I saw. Here's another:

http://www.si.com/nba/point-forward/2013/07/11/kobe-bryant-dwight-howard-lakers-future-amnesty

Sources told ESPN.com (Ramona Shelbourne and Mark Stein) that Howard and his representatives -- in a handful of meetings with Lakers officials before he became a free agent July 1 -- strongly suggested the center would have a difficult time re-signing with the team if Bryant stayed with the franchise beyond the 2013-14 season, the final year of his contract.

...

"How can it be Kobe's team and Dwight's team?" one source said. "It was about the passing of the torch."

As an offshoot of those discussions, sources said, Howard's camp at one point asked the Lakers whether they were at least considering releasing Bryant through the league's amnesty provision, since Bryant's return date from Achilles tendon surgery remained in question.

Yeah I heard it right after they told me that this was the season he was fired in for being an inept bum after going 18-24 ...and it actually wasn't until mike woodson took over as coach that they went 18-6 with a defense emergence

Nice try tho rook ....but you should try actually watching the league instead of using ESPN stats to tell the story to you

Anyways... This is a stupid back and forth.. Lol ...if you love Pringles and his non existent defensive sets good for you... God bless you

well as long as they score 121, with harden, probably this is the best philosophy because he is hopeless on defense, so houston's best defense it their offense...

I think this has potential to work but there's also a chance of it being entertainingly terrible.

It should turn out OK as long as DAntonie doesn't play Harden 48 mins a game and make him guard the other teams best player and also carry the offense to get to the say-offs so he doesn't get fired.

Wrong. The defense was good throughout the year. It was the offense that was terrible. Feel free to go back and look at the defensive numbers before and after Mike resigned. You will see that you are completely wrong and are puffing your chest out based on ignorance. So yes, i agree it's stupid to go back and forth with somebody that doesn't know what they are talking about but decides to insult people like they do. God bless you.

Blatt was available.. Some strange coaching changes this off-season. This still doesn't top the Pacers ridiculous decision to let Vogel go for Nate McMillan though.

MDA is probably the one of the best (if not the best) offensive coach that you can hire.

No, they made a surge when they tuned him out.

That's just a narrative some Kobe fans cooked up to make Kobe look good.

D'Antoni turned Earl Clark into a solid NBA player, where is Earl Clark now?

shame he is the worst defensive coach you could hire

not that it makes much of a difference if your team doesn't play any to begin with

So you didn't watch that team /season.

I don't know? Sitting on a bunch of money? But reread what you just wrote and tell me if it makes sense.

I will give you some clues.... Earl Clark = solid NBA player / where is Earl now ?

Paul Westhead not available?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Wasn't that often the case with Beverly playing the role of a two? Harden has always been their lead perimeter player, like LeBron with the Cavs.
