First, Millsap was clearly the best Hawk last season. It wasn't even close. Second, Dennis/Howard are more talented than Teague/Horford. There are legitimate concerns about Howard's fit and Dennis' readiness, but I have a lot of confidence in Bud to keep the team in the playoffs.

Ohhh i forgot the hawks signed the cancer. The demise starts now.

That's the main reason you are against the idea of the Hawks making the playoffs. He doesn't have a bog hog here in Atlanta (Kobe, Harden), so it could work. Best situation for him since Orlando as far as team concept.

It's funny, realGM hates the Raptors. For the past 3 years it's always been they're going to be 7th or 8th seed, or miss the playoffs, and they've always ended up as the 2-4 seed. Like do they not know 3/5 teams in our division have been tanking for the past 3 years? Meanwhile people give IND the benefit of the doubt, expecting a ridiculous jump from 7th to 2nd while their defense at the most important spot got worse. Turner could make a huge jump, but I don't expect the team will. BOS I could see going toe to toe with TOR and ending up as 2nd, I could totally see that. But NYK and CHI, both made really questionable signings. I actually think CHI will be worse than last year, they lost key rotation players with getting no defensive players back in return.

Hating the Raptors? Because they struggled against PG, the corpse of Monta Ellis, and the rookie Turner? Because it took a Whiteside and Bosh injury to reach the Conference Finals? I doubt it's a crime to suggest they'd revert to the mean.

You're cherry picking statements, I can make them too. Lowry was injured, Derozan shooting historically bad, both those teams faced the corpse of Luis Scola, rookie in Powell, one legged and played 10 games all season Carroll, JV injury when he was dominating Miami, etc. That's not my point though. Look at last seasons prediction and the season before that's prediction threads, they both had wild and ridiculous predictions for 7th-10th (which is not reverting to the mean) and several for a 6th place finish this year, and again giving wild predictions for the Knicks, Bulls and Pacers.

They are predictions, who really cares? Why get so worked up over whut seed someone else put the raptors in??
I actually liked it better when we were the underdogs. Both for the team and and the fans.

I see a lot of people rating the Pacers pretty high. They are a team I'd have to watch before I made a verdict on them.

The Teague-Ellis backcourt seems a bit clumsy
Lost some defense with Hill and Mahinmi
Pretty much throwing Turner into the fire
Firing Vogel may have a negative impact

A lot of interesting things about this team, but I really can't tell if they will be good or not

Milbuck wrote:Monroe has really destroyed perception of the Bucks around here. I see people predicting us to do even worse than last year and land bottom 3 in the conference, it's baffling to me. It's gonna be interesting how that changes after we trade him in the next couple weeks.

I believe it the general fan sentiment on the Bucks was super high last season since he was the big free agent move last year. With the spacing problem and the Bucks not being the defensive team outsiders thought they could be immediately non Bucks fans hold pause considering their bad luck last season. Not sure about the FA situation but if those FA help with the above problems and the core of Middleton, Giannis and Parker improve then yes they are shoo-ins for the playoffs. Otherwise I think the conference is simply too competitive as I think any team not in the top 3 last year can be a out of the playoffs especially with the risks teams are taking.

I don't understand how a lot of people are dropping the Raptors to 4th or 5th after finishing 1 game behind the Cavs, and going to Game 6 of ECF.

They have added 2 very impressive rookies, have created room for stand outs that didn't get enough time last season, added Sullinger for insurance - and all they have lost is Biyombo (who despite what people saw in the playoffs, had a virtually IDENTICAL season to the year before in Charlotte when nobody wanted him) who is a huge negative on offense to the point where teams stopped defending him.

The Hawks WITH Horford and Teague were a better team than Boston with Horford or Indy with Teague.

People really like to over value the fresh new move.

New York will be LUCKY to make the playoffs - but some people are putting them 2nd or 3rd???

I like this list, but I think the Magic's backcourt is too much of a mess.
