this should in theory remove HArden from the MVP contention in 2018

it's Westbrook vs KAwhi

Call me crazy but I think this works. Harden plays his ball dominant style a lot of the time out of necessity. I think he could easily go back to a supercharged version of his OKC game if he wanted to.

Wonder what move is next for the rockets.

More shooters? Glad CP didn't go to spurs

Two completely different scenarios.

1. Butler wanted to stay, is 27, signed for 2 years on a team friendly contract.
2. Paul was going to leave in a few days, is 32, FA.

I'd say the Clippers did well considering. GarPax are the worst in the NBA, Jerry West runs the Clippers, and Knicks fired Grandpa Clown. We are alone, with maybe Divac.
Who needs to see when the Bulls aren't on?

Austin Rivers is the face of an LA franchise getting a brand new arena.

What a time to be alive. Best storyline in the whole league.

I was hoping he go to the Spurs..I don't see this moving the needle for the Rockets

The Clips-Rockets are going to do a Harden for Blake and DeAndre trade now, right?

Great decision by CP3. No state tax in Texas, defense is optional under Dumbtoni's system.

Going to laugh if its Beverly and Anderson only, but it makes sense.

Sources: After Paul informed Clippers he'd sign w/ HOU in FA, teams agreed to deal sending Beverley, Decker, Williams and 2018 FRP for Paul.

Not enough salary going to the Clippers, right? Did Cp3 actually do a S&T with a lesser salary instead of an "opt-n-trade" or is someone else leaving the Rockets?

Houston had some cap space left, around 10 million I think, and that's how its completed. Lou was a throw in to make it closer to 14.

What's great about that?

Clips are sinking.

Don't forget a first round pick for next year which the Rockets definitely did not have to throw in. Even for a late first-round pick lately they are netting starting players in trades. In other words the value of even a late first-round pick as at an all-time high.

As a Clippers man, would you say it's time to blow it up and go for a Youth movement?

I can't see Blake hanging around and DeAndre may not get the same service Paul was delivering.

Was definitely time for this to end. I'm newly energized as a fan. Two options now. Trade DJ and build around Blake properly who's still a dark horse MVP candidate when healthy... or full rebuild.

Feel bad for Clippers fans. I know the feeling. At least he gave some return to his team. That's the way to have great memories of your ex-superstar player and still cheer for him in the future.

Curious to know what the rockets will do. Think giving Sam Dekker was too much.

The fit of Paul/Harden won't work. They are both ball dominant & their games just don't co-exist. Remember the failure that was Lawson/Harden? I hate the Rockets. But I would love for this to work. I just can't see it happening.

So Doc has got to be out the door now, and the Clippers are likely to be sellers in short order. If Blake re-signs, maybe not.. but they should still be looking to sell DJ immediately.

Big winners here: Celtics, who you have to believe are the new frontrunners for Blake, and can package that with a PG trade and look really, really good.

FNQ wrote:My biggest takeaway - Rockets couldnt get anyone to absorb Ryan Anderson's contract so they chose to go the trade route

I think they realized it was going to cost them other assets to dump Anderson, so it made more sense to use those assets to just trade for him and keep Anderson. In addition, if they signed Paul with cap space they would have been capped out with no MLE and no way to fill the hole that losing Anderson would have created. Now they still have Anderson and they can use their MLE to add another player or players.
