I honestly think Westbrook has the opportunity to lead his team around 50-52 wins and maybe even challenge the for the third spot.. at this point you know he is gunning for the tripple double, and he will make the last ten games a much watch.. The raptors road game was a big win and they are jelling at the right time.. I can very easily see these cats eliminating the rox in the second round only to be swept by the warriors.. I don't think russ will even finish second for MVP but man he is turned it on big time

Very easily eliminating the Rockets? Come on now.

Are people pretending Westbrook is surrounded by scrubs again? When did this start happening?

Ummm I'm pretending the Raptors without derozan and OKC without westbrook are two different situations. I do think OKC without westbrook is not a good nba team to be honest, but I don't think he's surrounded by scrubs.

Look at the bolded. You're insinuating Westbrook is individually carrying the Thunder, and that should garner him MVP votes over DeRozan who has seemingly more help. Is that not what you're saying?

It's remarkable how Westbrook always ends up "needing" to do everything himself, right?

Ahh ok, I think westbrook carries the thunder at times, but less so than say a James Harden, and has less positive affect than Steph Curry does on his own team despite how stacked it is with talent. I'd say curry carries the warriors at times, sure. Honestly don't think westbrook should be in the MVP race either, just using him as an example of a guy who's probably getting less pub/hype than derozan this year.

Westbrook would probably be better with a different mentality.

That problem is that Westbrook is completely incapable of playing off of other players. It's not in him. He doesn't know how. He has no semblance of an off-ball game whatsoever. It's why the Thunder are a lot better when he monopolizes and drops triples-doubles, but it's not necessarily a good thing because it means that you can't establish a system and you won't be able to rely on other players for any given stretch of time, despite him having one of the best Wings and one of the best Centers on his team.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, dependency =/= value.

You are absolutely right. Derozan plays way too mechanically and he makes up his mind before a play instead of taking what the defense gives him, it's a huge pet peeve of mine whenever I watch him play when basketball is such a fluid game that's a series of moves and counter moves.

It's just not a satisfying play style to have to watch for years especially worsen by his usage rate. That is also a reason I almost never blame Casey on his iso system last year. I don't believe Derozan has the mental flexibility to actually adapt on the fly on more complicated offensive sets (nor does he have the actual passing skill)

I have been saying for years in my mind that derozan is a more an athlete than a basketball player.

LeBron should be MVP this season

Post#148 » by BuzzKing60 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:17 am

With all the chaos going on with the Cavs this year, there is no way you can't say he's the MVP.

What other player could manage with all this drama? The cavs have basically had 4 seasons in 1.

Yes James Harden has been impressive but so has his supporting cast.

LBJ is my MVP this year

Can we move this to the MVP Discussion thread. This doesn't warrant it's own thread.

he is still the best player in the world in his 15th season and it's not even close.

Not only that, is he even top 3? Id take Harden EASY 1, then Kyrie, AD, and Curry/Durant over him. Lebron is in the Lillard, Derozan, Westbrook tier.

This opinion is somehow worse than OPs.

Eh, probably not.

But the fact he's putting up the numbers he has been and playing like he has is probably one of the craziest things of the season.

Hopefully after he retires people can gain abit more perspective on his career and just appreciate how good he is at his age and after so many games and minutes, long seasons etc..

No, the Cavs are 11.5 games out of first place in the East.

Team success is always crucial in the MVP.

The fact that the Cavs have been sort of a mess this year doesn't make Lebron the MVP...

I think Westbrook's MVP says otherwise...

Lebron's Cavs were the 2nd, 1st, and 2 seeds the past 3 years and his team won't even win 50 games this year. This thread isn't legitimate.

We all have opinions. Lebron is no longer the best player and it's not that close. There is such a concept as defense, apparently something that Lebron has completely forgotten about.
