No MLE for Mbah A Moute?
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Ironically, by far the bigger problem HOU had against GSW last year was HOU's offense.

Houston needs to sign Corey Brewer ASAP. Morey needs to get more blame for that Ryan Anderson contract. That is currently the worst contract in the nba at 2yr 40mill.

Agree that the contract to Paul is going to be an albatross around Houston's neck for 4 years. But, I understand it on Houston's behalf...they are trying to win a chip while they are best positioned to do so, and letting Paul walk wasn't an answer, as they wouldn't have had cap room anyways. I know...I am a Cavs fan and though I hate having Tristan and JR making more $$ than they should, when you are capped out and trying to win (or have just won a chip), you have to go all in and keep anyone that has been productive and helped you win (even if you know you are overpaying them).

He was actually quite useful against most teams before he was injured last year. I mean, c'mon, not when we have George Hill at $19m per and Joakim and Luol chugging along at $18+m per.

Melo has finally humbled himself and is taking a huge pay cut so they can keep Capella and stay competitive with the Warriors. People will still hate and say rockets got worse.

are you suggest Morey don't pay him and piss him off so he'll go sign veteran minimum with Lakers?

$35M to Paul at 33 for 4 years? I just cannot support that, especially if he is struggling every post season health wise. :banghead:
We'll Im glad you're not the Rockets GM, because if you were, you would've never landed CP3 in the 1st place. Paul wouldnt have opted-in onto the last year on that cheaper deal, not without getting it back on the next contract. It was understood that he would be made whole with the new contract if he allowed the Rockets to trade for him.

LOL, I would sleep just the same, especially knowing I am not overpaying for an injury prone PG who has yet to really prove anything in the post season bc guess what? He cannot stay healthy.

$35M can go a long ways. Hell you could probably use that CAP to resign/sign 2-3 players.

Rockets is over the cap with or without re-signing CP3
if you ask me 40M per for CP3 or 20M per for Ariza+Mbah a Moute
i would pick 40M per for CP3
CP3 impact the game more
only question mark is injury and Mbah a Moute isn't exactly healthy

OKC stopped the Melo plus bench units for some reason. Take a look at his numbers and the team numbers during those lineups.

I assume HOU will use him more in that capacity.

I wonder, if Melo went ahead and signed with GSW instead, would everyone freak out about that or see it as a good thing that hurts GSW?

He's a starter on one team and buried on the bench for the other.

What year was Carmelo Anthony considered an actual net potive on the court?

2012-2013 Melo was a net positive player. He played the 4 a decent amount (despite getting D'Antoni fired the year before over the same subject). His crappy defense and utter ability to ever run back on defense, or just run period didn't matter as much because Chandler was a pretty good defender. The offense was mostly ISO Melo. He did have some good shooters around him and a pick and roll lob threat C playing next to him, who was also a good offensive rebounder to pick up some of his patented come down and chuck a 3 for no reason possessions. Melo could also still finish then, or even on a miss quickly get his bricked layup bully ball style and put it back.

After that year and the Hibbert block his effort went from 30% to 5%. At not point after that has contributed to winning NBA basketball.

So 5 years ago. Yikes.

The GSW fanboy circle jerk would prevail and everyone would proclaim them geniuses.

So, I still don't see any sauces anywhere. I think Rockets fans should still hold out hope they can find someone else who can actually shoot or play D to fill out their team for the minimum.

Melo's always played best with pure-ish point guards. See J. Kidd and C. Billups. However, I'm not sure Melo hasn't slipped so much that PG play is irrelevant.

He’s def a lot slower than he once was and doesn’t have much lift.
