Trae is poised. His learning curve seems incredibly fast and he's a PG tha clearly knows how to use and involve the other four players on the floor. His vision/passing, IQ and shooting are already elite level. Add DAL pick that should convey about #7-#13 and Schlenk did good. Trae for Doncic str8 up maybe, the nice first coming... Schlenk gold

Worst case scenerio, Brandon Jennings who dropped 55 in his seventh NBA game.

I don't understand these comparisons. People do realize that Trae's vision is elite? In what world is that the case or even close to the case for players like Lillard or Jennings?

No comp for any player is going to be exact but I'm hoping you don't actually view the Lillard comparison as some sort of insult?

As for Jennings, he averaged 22/6 his first month as an NBA player at the same age as Young and in a similar situation. The point there is every great looking rookie doesn't automatically become a star
Def not an insult as Lillard is a great player. I just think Trae's elite vision makes him a different type of player than lillard.

Someone posted a Steve Nash twit about Trae's 20 / 9 game. He might be a little jealous after the 35 / 11

Hopefully Trae Young has Lillard's durability.

I never complained about this thread exsisting, i was asked if i thought this was GB thread worthy and i said no.

My whole point was trying to extrapolate that Trae is a star from 1 game is just as silly as people extrapolating he was a bust from preseason or summer league.

knee-jerk reactions.

We are in agreement overall. Just having some laughs at your expense.

I kinda assumed folks weren't making that gigantic leap and were simply acknowledging a really good, historic performance from a guy only 3 games in.

The future will happen. Right now, Trae is looking like one of the best players in a very good draft. Love how he looks in a Hawks uni.

Ah man, why you gotta put that out in the atmosphere? C'mon, sun.

When you see another dude apparently balding, you don't talk about it. Just be a good dude and hope against all hope that it turns around for him. You're tempting fate, bro. I won't dare speak about another man's balding for fear the karma causes me to start developing a cul-de-sac.

Then again, I think I got enough $chwag to pull of a George Jefferson look and be aiight. 8-)

:/

Why would they at this point?

Doncic: 18ppg / 5.5rpg / 7apg / 1spg
Young: 23ppg / 3.3rpg / 8apg / 1spg

Not even sure why you would ask that after a whoping 3 whole games.

I thought it was an interesting question. It will likely be a subplot during the season.

I agree with you. Trae seems to fit within the fast pace of the NBA offense. His D needs some work given he's undersized, but he wouldn't be the first undersized offensive talent to be camouflaged within a team defensive.

And with the NBA prioritizing O, Trae will really benefit.

Hawks need to slowly build that roster to mirror the Warriors from years back.

Knew he could shoot really well. His ability to get into the lane consistently and get easy layups/dunks for his teammates on pinpoint passes was the most impressive part of the performance for me.

I didn't doubt that Trae could have nights where he went off for 30+ as a pro. What I doubt is his ability to be consistent and to not get run down by the asb like he did in college last year. Not that I am necessarily rooting against him either. I'm just not going to act surprised or amazed that he put up 35 in his second game as a pro. Scoring is his thing. If he can't do that then he's really going to be out of the league fast.

You know he had 11 assists too right? Led college in assists last year? His passing ability / playmaking alone would keep him in the NBA for a while.

He can sort of pass/playmake too. I'm not really sold on him in that regard based on what he did in college though where it was basically the WB system adapted to college for him.

Disagree completely. It’s the best part of his game and why so many people underrated him. Why Jimmer / Lou Williams were awful comparisons.

But Trae was triple teamed in the 2nd half of college last year. That was the biggest reason for the run down.

Heh. "Sort of" pass/plamake? That's his elite skill, not scoring.
