 AD isnt held hostage. He'll be traded to Boston.

He wants to play if not traded and they're not gonna let him. This is an organization that repeatedly failed to put a competent team together around him, and when he said he wanted a trade they threw a hissy fit and decided to take their ball and go home.

Which is exactly why I don’t see Ainge screwing around and possibly angering someone long to lose out due to spite.

13th Man wrote:The Pelicans will not get any offers as remotely good as the Lakers offer. Why? Because Klutch (Lebron) and AD are in a contractual position of leverage and can greatly influence the strength of the offers.

The AD camp are saying that signing anywhere else will end up being a one year rental, obviously this will dissuade other teams from throwing the kitchen sink at the Pelicans as the Lakers have done (to the best of their ability). Do you think Ainge will give up Tatum + a slew of future first knowing this? No chance. He likely won't even offer up Tatum now.

The Pelicans will be crawling back to the Lakers by mid-summer asking to see if the current offer is still on the table. This is my prediction.

If you think a bunch of late picks and a bunch of players who are not even close to all stars is a good package I don’t know what to say. This won’t even be a top 3 package. Lakers assets are not interesting at all.

Then Pelicans lose him for nothing. We’ve seen this movie before.

How? The Celtics and the Lakers aren't the only teams vying for AD. Lots of teams are interested. Besides, the Lakers offer isn't going anywhere. It's going to be there in the summer too.

Lakers offer in the summer will drop. I don’t think the Lakers would be in the mood to do the Pelicans any favours when they tried to negotiate in bad faith. Too many things can happen between now and the off season. Boston isn’t putting Tatum on the table without a commitment from AD. If Irving leaves the Celtics then there’s no way they still pursue Davis. If Knicks don’t get the number 1 pick then the value of those assets goes down.

Look at past trades:

Kawhai, Irving, Cousins, Butler, George no one got a package as good as the Lakers were offering. This is going blow up in the Pelicans face.

What the Lakers were offering just wasn't enticing. If they end up with less, which is unlikely, it really doesn't matter.

1) On the Lakers offer dropping this summer: It won't. LeBron will be just as desperate to get AD in the summer as he was now. Zubac is obviously off the table now since he was traded but the rest of the offer will still be there.

2) On Boston not putting Tatum on the table: They'll have to if they want to get AD.

3) The Pacers got the best possible package by waiting on George. I know that people hated the return we got early on but Oladipo and Domas proved to be the best option.

1. Again when your competing offer is Brown, Smart and a couple of middle to low first round picks that’s not beating the Lakers offer of the 3 kids plus picks.

2. If Ainge puts Tatum on the table and AD leaves Boston fans will riot. He’s not giving up his best trade asset for a one year rental.

3. Pacers made out very well in that trade but no one predicted Olidipo would turn into an allstar or how well Sabonis would play. Pacers could have had Russell, Randle and an additional pick. Let’s just say that you can’t completely write off 2nd and 3rd year players that were high lottery picks. It worked out for Pacers but this doesn’t mean it will work out for the Pelicans.

I don't expect AD to be a one-year rental for Boston. PG was also thought of as a rental for OKC but he chose to stay there. Surround a player with a good team and a chance to win and they'll stay.

It all depends on whether they choose the right deal. Waiting out for the summer just gives them more options and thus the best opportunity to choose the right deal. They wouldn't gain anything by rushing it and caving in to Klutch's pressure.

I predict the Celts will low-ball in the off-season, that's just the Danny Ainge way

I don’t think they will regret waiting. The Lakers picks are not good enough to deal with all that baggage (ie Lakers’ youth).

Boston isn't giving up Tatum and Brown for a year of AD. They're not going to get a deal as good as the Lakers offered imo.

Why would they?
They clearly didn't care for the Lakers offer
Can't hurt to wait then

I agree with this...I think Philly and Toronto took themselves out of the bidding with their moves today. Come summertime it may be back to the Lakers and Celtics and I promise you Ainge won't bid against himself.

I think Tatum, Horford (if he opts in) and bunch of picks (including Memphis which is projecting top 10) gets it done.

Brown, Smart, Williams, and said picks could also would work and imo is still better than Lakers package.

Ainge has played this beautifully...

Tell me why are you so sure the Ainge offers Tatum? Is there any proof that AD wants to resign? Second let’s assume Ainge doesn’t put Tatum on the table. What are some of the better offers you imagine seeing?

I'm not sure that Ainge offers Tatum. All I know is that if he wants AD then he'll have to offer Tatum. As for proof about AD re-signing with Boston, there was no proof that PG was gonna re-sign with OKC too but he did.

As for other offers, the Clippers could make a good AD offer, anyone who lands Zion could make a good AD offer and you also never know what kind of deal comes out of the blue. The Dipo/Domas package was also out of blue for PG but it proved to be the best one.

None of us know how much they're going to play him the rest of the way so stop. Them failing to build around him is irrelevant. And OMG, they want to wait until theres more than a 1 team trade market to maximize their return, instead receiving a mediocre deal for a superstar. How dare they? Those guys are monsters.
Most see it as common sense, but yall refuse to. You guys are just blinded by "butt hurt". He will be traded, probably just not to your favorite team. Tough ****. Why do you feel the Lakers are owed AD?
If the Lakers offer is soo good, they'll have a good shot at AD in the summer. But none of yall really believe the BS yall pushing, that's way so many are melting down.

Lakers have great talent, but they don't look like great talent because their player development system absolutely sucks. D'Lo and Randle have thrived since being traded from LA, watch Zubac do the same

So I believe NO will regret it because Lonzo and Ingram have a lot of potential, but they won't find it in LA. And Boston will not offer Tatum because Danny Ainge only trades when he can fleece the other team

Yes. Boston's famous picks are not valuable anymore. Late first rounders or second rounders.

Possibly. Any other answer is dishonest.

That should make Lakers fans very happy. Less competition for good AD offers in the off-season, right?
