Before all these stuff happened ( pandemic, lockdown, shortened season, etc etc ) This draft was considered pretty "meh" In fact there wasn't even any consensus #1 pick. I even read about stuff that the top pick/s in this draft wouldn't even be top-3 in next year's draft.
But to my pleasant surprised, picks outside the lotto are having pretty good games ( so far anyway ). I mean not all-star stuff but decent and quality.
How much do you attribute this to the environment? Like no fans , so jitters and pressure are gone, so rookies are just concentrating on the game , no distractions ( with lock downs and quarantine protocols, rookies are more concentrated on the game and practices rather than the " distraction of a baller's life" ).
You think some front offices would learn from this?
To me this draft was really good outside the top-10 or so. Like Haliburton, Vassell etc feel like better than average late lotto picks. Then you start getting even deeper and it just keeps getting better and better for later picks.
The issue was at the top. Basically all these guys have huge warts. They either weren't super productive (Edwards, Williams), didn't seem to have high scoring potential, had limited film etc... Compared to prior years you had Morant, Barrett, Zion who were tremendously productive + had good body types etc.
Because everyone was a risk teams drafted for fit more than BPA and I think really ever guy drafted went to a good home.
