I hope he goes to the Nets. Blake is not the answer for us.

Why is Cousins not on a team yet?

I think Blake is slightly better on defense.

Blake would have a more crucial role on the Lakers. His playmaking would help a lot and he'd easily just take Markieffs minutes.

Not sure Blake is going to be better than Green on the Nets, at least for the role they want him to play. But he's good insurance and could be really good.

Lakers lose out here I think

Blake absolutely cooked us when we met with the Pistons early in the season. I think he still has alot left in the tank.

I know its not a popular opinion but Drummond would be better for us. Even Hassan.
Their egos are the biggest issue though. If we can make Dwight work, I think we could pull it off.
I don't think Kieff is that much worse than Blake is right now. Kieff wasn't even getting minutes when we were healthy. So Blake would be in the same situation.

The only thing Blake contributes anymore is as a facilitator. The only playoff team that needs more passing is the Clippers. Blake will see more time on the court as a Clipper. Come home Blake Griffin.

In addition, there is only one team that is even considering retiring his number and hanging a jersey - that is the Clippers.

jamaalstar21 wrote:I was shocked the first time I saw Blake play this year. His mobility was gone. In some situations he looked like a shorter, thiccer version of 39-year-old Dirk Nowitzki. A loose ball scramble, an turnover resulting in change of direction... he looked unable to move and sometimes seemed like he was just trying to avoid getting injured. He looked like bending or changing direction was a painful thing.

Stats back it up. 0 dunks on the years from one of the best run and jump athletes ever. Bigtime career-lows in block rate, rebounding-rate, free-throw rate. Usage not even in the same universe. Only 14% of his shots come from inside 3 feet (previous career low was 27%, and for his career it's 35%).

This version of Blake Griffin has zero ability to help an NBA contender. I don't understand why a team would sign him, unless it's a make-good rehab chance like Boogie on the Lakers last year. He can't play. It would be great if he got healthy and found a way to be a productive player in some capacity... but right now... yeah why would someone sign him?

This is what I’m saying. A lot of the mindset is that Blake has been holding back, mind you by people who haven’t seen anything but a box score of his in a while but still.

Whatever team he winds up with he’ll be able to help, but it will be in short spurts and taking games off. Not to mention the inevitable injury.

But when he is healthy he’s going to try to be a stretch 4 with good passing skills. But in the years since he’s been taking more 3s, his overall field goal percentage is getting worse and worse. Even the just twos fgs percentage other than his all star season.

I like his as a player, but this is going to be along the lines of Ewing after he left New York.

I don't mind if the Nets get him. Ultimately that probably removes them from getting the defensive C they need.

Blake will get all their backup C minutes. Meh

We can easily offer him a starting role or a sixth man role and more money between the Taxpayers MLE or DPE.

He easily becomes the leader of the bench unit or the guy who opens the floor for the starting lineup.

Kyrie / Harden / Harris / KD / Griffin + Brown becomes a death lineup to close games.

Green comes off the bench again like he was expected to do coming into the season most likely.

Nets will still have to decide on Dinwiddie at the deadline in a trade and decide on a couple more open spots. Adding Griffin doesn’t change anything we’re trying to do but add a quality big that isn’t incompetent of playmaking like Drummond.

Fans thinking potentially adding Griffin is the only move to improve the roster will be sorely mistaken.

You mean like the NFL? Makes sense but even if that did that no one is picking up that contract and he would be a free agent anyway. You're also acting like the owners have some sort of power when in reality they have zero power and the players have 100% of the power. The players run the NBA.

No, the players do not have 100% of the power. Some players who earn a lot have way oversized power in the players' union. Most basketball players would be destroyed by a lockout. Easiest way for players on the lower end of the salary spectrum to make serious gains would be to support the owners against the star players.

How so? By sticking together the players are leveraging the power of the handful of superstars that "run the league" to benefit the players with less bargaining power. That is why there are guaranteed contracts and guys can't be cut after one bad season despite signing a multi-year deal.

The lower paid players get a pittance compared to what higher end players get. I think the owners would be very willing to up the floor at the expense of the ceiling, and like it or not everybody is losing lots of money, the players are going to have to take losses, it just depends where.

This recent version of Blake is the Detroit version of Blake. Not smart to assume that he's got nothing left. I'd venture to guess wherever he goes (Lakers or Nets or Clippers) he'll find that excitement and you'll see a renewed guy.

Dwight was just about out of the league before resurrecting himself with the Lakers. Batum was called trash til he found a role with the Clippers. Situations make a huge impact.

He's only 31 years old, I think we'll have another curious case of rediscovered talent, amazing how a player with an option to exist his contract, can bully the team to pay him to not play during that option year.

Blake might be done as a 2nd option in this league but anyone that thinks he's cooked is fooling themselves. He will play amazing as a supporting or even bench player. I hate moves like this where the strong just get stronger.

There should be some stipulation that has cap complications for teams signing guys like this. Maybe half of his expected 2021 salary counting against your teams cap regardless of what you sign him for.

After how Ballmer threw him away after he signed the big extension to stay with the Clippers?

No frigging way I'm going back to the Clippers if I'm Blake Griffin.
