Well sure, Giannis isn't getting past 3 top 15 players. Even the GOAT (MJ) wouldn't have been able to with the Bucks' squad.

But let me ask you this: why do KD, Harden, and Kyrie feel like they need to play together? Their personalities and social media habits tell you a lot about the psychology of these guys and I'm not a fan. It's the equivalent of div-I guys beating an intramural team and then celebrating it. Congrats, I guess.

It's called pointing out the flaws in your argument. You said KD couldn't beat. Well the reality is that Giannis wasn't playing by himself. In game 5 Holliday had 27/13/4/3 with all NBA defense and Middleton had 29/7/5. You take that away and the Bucks don't make the finals. How good are Holliday and Middleton? Seems arbitrary to knock KD for playing with Harden and Kyrie and then act like Middleton and Holliday are trash. Where do you have Middleton and Holliday ranked? Can't be much further than 25 no?

Middleton and Jrue are not trash but they are no where near as reliable as Kyrie or Harden (when those guys actually play lol). Jrue is a top 40 player IMO because of his elite defense. His offense is not dependable at all. He shot 42/30/70 in the playoffs this year. Not terrible but certainly not top 25. Khris is closer to top 25 but I still don't have him in there. The bucks are a great team and Giannis' teammates are FAR from trash... AND the bucks wouldn't have beaten a healthy Nets team but the point is that Giannis didn't run to a team that had championship roster already constructed or played with another MVP level player.

Also, I didn't say KD 'couldn't beat' Giannis. The fact is 'he didn't beat' Giannis. We can play the what if game all day. Such as, what if the Bucks didn't F up the Bogdan deal?

Top 40 for Holliday? With all NBA defense? He also creates for others, doesn't turn over the ball and guards the opposing lead guard. He's much higher than 40. Especially after this championship. He's more like top 25 and so is Middleton. Ironically, because they won a championship the Bucks have become a super team after the fact. That game 5 performance tells you all you need to know. Holliday put up 27/13/4 with all-nba defense. That is better than anything Kyrie did in his playoff run. Middleton's playoff run is just as good as anything Harden has done in the playoffs and significantly more clutch. Plus Middleton played great defense. In an attempt to tear down other stars, people are discounting what Holliday and Middleton just proved. There aren't 40 players in the NBA that I'd take over Jrue Holliday. Even if his offense isn't consistent.

Put a bunch of injury prone stars together, don't be surprised when they get injured...

Giannis bent his knee backwards and got back on court two weeks later to win instead.

Lol this is my whole point. Makes durant look even weaker

Durant harden or any of these ring chasing stars will never get full respect after giannis won without a super team

I don't think you understand my post. Giannis won in part due to injury to superteams, not because he beat a super team.

He’s not half the player those guys are lmao.. here come the absurd gassing of a player that is the same guy he was last year but just got a lucky break

Lebron James in 8 years:
2 time MVP
0 championships
0-2 in the Finals
7 years with Cavs
1 year with Heat

Giannis in 8 years:
2 time MVP
1 DPOY
1 Championship
1 FMVP
1-0 in the Finals
8 years with the Bucks

Interesting. Giannis seems to be a better trajectory than Lebron, yet he’s somehow not half the player? Interesting argument there.

Did Bron have 2 all-stars on his team during his first Cleveland stint? Or a first-team all D player? In between the lines there’s no comparison, LeBron is way better, especially young LeBron. Giannis almost lost to KD and a depleted Nets team, a young LeBron would have destroyed him.

He should enjoy his war of attrition ring, because he’s never getting another one

Y’all don’t really like these players. Maybe you like the sport in general, but the more I read this board the more obvious it becomes that you wish players weren’t people so you could treat them as solely assets.

Super teams aren’t new. And for all the blame Lebron gets for the modern era super team, it was actually Boston with KG and Ray Ray who were the first of this era.

It’s nice to see the Bucks win it all, just so whiny small market fans can stfu. Clearly anybody can win a chip if your front office is competent. Respect to Giannis for getting the biggest bag AND the chip.

I thought KG and Ray got proper traded to Boston?

Still a super team.

And AD was traded to LA. No one nitpicks that. Not Cleveland trading a #1 overall pick for Kevin Love. Teams are built using the draft, free agency, AND trades. The ending result of a super team is debatable, but that wasn’t really my point.

Actually i'm pretty sure it was thoroughly nitpicked at the time. The means by which superteams are created is important to context (as in not all superteams are created equally). Teams making legitimate trades means both parties have to agree and both parties need to part way with assets (and naturally teams should want to get better, thats the point). Running away when the going gets tough and signing with a stacked team instead of persevering and rising to the challenge devalues the achievement IMO. Fair or unfair, teams are judged differently to players and great players are judged more harshly than average players.

Yes certainly MVP level numbers there.

He had 30/6/5/1/1 in his elimination game the year before. For someone who doesn't play much defense, that's not really all that impressive either.

We're getting into the weeds now. I believe your original point was that stars join up because they are afraid of going one on one with players "like" Giannis. I only responded to say that I dont think KD is scared of going up against anyone one on one... which makes it frustrating when he does join up, because it means we dont get to see him do it... but agree to disagree...

This all day. 'Kyrie didn't play!' Yeah, we know... he doesn't play often and really only plays when he wants to.

'They're lucky AD got injured.' Yeah, a lot of teams get lucky because of that... year in a and year out

And it’s not like Milwaukee is much bigger than Cleveland as a market. Both are in the East. So what was Lebron’s excuse?

Lebron faced healthy teams

It's hard not to argue that the game 5 performance isn't indicative of being a super team. Praise Giannis for staying in Milwuakee, but the Super Team dig is silly. 60s Celtics were a super team. 80s Lakers were a super team. 80s Celtics were a super team. 90s Bulls were a super team. 2000s Lakers were a super team.

How about this. Rank all NBA finals teams in the last 40 years. Where do the Suns rank? Giannis ekeed out a ring against historically weak competition. Heat, injured Nets, Hawks and Suns. Giannis played great but let's slow down on the hyperbole. This isn't Dirk vs. LBJ's heat or Wade vs. the Mavs. If Giannis wants real respect he's going to have to do it again.

It's more about how they abandoned ship and find the easy path instead of fighting through adversity and showing some pride/loyalty.

I mean people wanna see MJ grow and come back to dethrone the Bad Boys instead of just joining them for example.

Preach! Articulated this better than my past efforts lol

It's okay. Everytime these middling playoff teams catch a lucky break, they get cocky and puff out their chest and then come back to reality.

It happened to the Raptors and it's gonna happen to the Bucks.

KD's social media behavior tells me everything I need to know about his mentality and insecurities. I don't doubt that he thinks he's the best but he likely worries that if he doesn't win enough no one will look at him as the best which is what he wants. Harden is lazy so I know why he wants to join a super team. Kyrie... well, I don't know if Kyrie even knows why Kyrie does what he does

The most disappoint thing about KD to me is that he has all the talent, skill, and god given abilities to be the greatest ever. If I could describe what I thought the best basketball player looked like and the skills he had, it would be KD nearly to the T. I just wish his career played out differently. He had a shot to go down as a top 5 player of all time. While I view him as top 3 skilled player of all time, I don't think he will be remembered as top 5 all time unless he racks up a ton more rings and leads the way.
