This is not how rationale human beings think. If Kyrie wanted to I’m sure the NBA and Nets would have Fauci call him personally to answer all his questions. If it’s gotten to the point where your teammates have to go to chairman and governor because you’re a dip ****, then it’s getting ridiculous.

You can't just "crack down" on misinformation. It's up for people to not be an idiot like Kyrie and figure things out for themselves.

I think in principle that if Kyrie is going to miss half of his games his coach should only play him half of the minutes in the 1/2 of the games that he does attend. If I were Steve Nash I would literally bring him off the bench and make sure he doesn't play more than 28 minutes a game.

I would actually put a positive spin on that. Tell him that permanent he is by far the highest paid guy that's ever played in the NBA. And I would promise him been in the playoffs I might play him 48 minutes.

Seems to me that would give the coach control and it would not hurt the team in the long run.

They aren't paying him for any games missed. The NBA released a statement about this, essentially creating a temporary rule that any time or games lost due to players not following COVID protocols - whether home or away - will result in the player forfeiting their salary for those games. Also, while the team saves money, the full salary counts against the cap/tax, so they can't get an exemption to sign a replacement player or go along with a player missing games in order to reduce their luxury tax payments.

But he can play road games. They're choosing to not let him. How does that work here?

I could see that if he was the only star on Brooklyn but the Nets have KD and Harden. It’s easy to sell 2 stars especially when BRK is using former stars like Blake and LMA.
