I'm not sure how that can be held against the Raptors. Regardless, most teams in the league have played 36-38 games and that 1-3 game difference is barely worth mentioning. Toronto had two games against the Bulls postponed and one against the Magic postponed, and two (1st Bulls game and Magic) were postponed because the opposition didn't have enough players before the league instituted the new hardship rules. If they played those three games, they're most likely at 20-18 right now which would bring them even closer to the Cavs and Sixers.
Their top players are healthy for the first time all season and they're taking care of business (blowing out bad teams and handling the undermanned Clippers and Bucks) while developing some much-needed chemistry. In the first 2+ months (32 games), the lineup of FVV+Trent+OG+Barnes+Siakam played just 3 games and 50 minutes together (+1.0 NetRTG) which were also Siakam's first games back from shoulder surgery and he was very rusty. In the last week alone, they have played 3 games and 30 minutes together (+14.5 NetRTG).
All 5 main guys (34+ MPG each) can score (15+ PPG each) and all 5 guys can defend -- a few of which at All-Defence level -- plus they have one of the best coaches in the league. The glaring issue is the hole at backup PG/scoring off the bench, but that can be rectified a bit by rotating the starters a bit...which is what Nurse has been able to do the last few games with all starters and Birch/Achiuwa healthy.
