They were fine without cp3, just like they are now. They struggled when he tried to play hurt, but when he straight up sat games they didnt miss a beat and were arguably better with payne running the show. Played much faster. Seemed like LA was going to beat them if AD didnt go down, and that was with a hobbled Lebron all series as well. Phoenix looks different this year, but they and the bucks got lucky last season.

My dude..

I guess we will see this year. Can you name the healthy teams either of them beat on their way to the finals? The atlanta hawks? Both appeared to be overmatched in series when the other team was close to 100% ( nets series for bucks, although Harden was never close to healthy, Lakers series for suns, although lebron was playing hurt). Otherwise what healthy teams did either play? Enlighten me.....

Stop making excuses. Health and injuries are a part of the game and ALL teams face them at the most inopportune of times. Making remarks of this kind are lazy.

Would you have said the same had the Lakers been healthy and other teams injured on their run to the Finals? Probably not. "Luck" is just the right timing and nothing else. There's no magical formula or spell for it, else every team out there would be killing each other to possess it.

Here's the real bottom line: We have ZERO way to know who would have won the series if both teams were at full strength. Even trying to have that discussion is nothing more than armchair GM'ing. The Suns played the Lakers well when they were healthy. That one victory the Lakers had against PHX took a herculean effort to pull off a victory for LA. No James for that one... but I guess that's how it goes.

Yea, i wouldve said that about the lakers if they didnt beat a single healthy team to get to the finals and then lost. Again, i think phoenix has stepped up this year and will be ready. But last year almost none of them had ever played in the playoffs. The Bucks looked clearly overmatched vs. the nets and then beat the Atlanta hawks in the ECF. It isnt a lazy take, its how it played out. Yes injuries happen, but its pretty rare to play a badly injured team every round in the case of the suns. I dont remember two luckier/easier paths to the finals in a single year. Do you?

I'm starting to think AD and Harden should be on the same team and just be clueless together.

No. And you know what? If we're being honest here, I don't care about that AT ALL.

How the Bucks looked is irrelevant. They won. If the Nets were the team they were hyped up to be, well, they would have closed them out when it counted. They didn't, and we all know how that played out.

It is relevant to what this thread is about/what Davis was saying, in that the suns (and bucks) were being outplayed by the two good, relatively healthy teams they were playing before injuries. If you dont care about how unprecedently lucky their paths were, fine, but they were. Again, unless you can think of other examples of a year when the two finalists faced easier/luckier paths?

Outplayed? No. Played well and matched up pretty squarely? Sure. Remember: This is a thread based SOLELY and COMPLETELY on speculation and nothing else.

As for the "other examples" of an easier year, that's YOUR duty to provide as the burden of proof is on the claimant to prove and no one else. So if you want to provide that info, feel free to supply it. If you don't have it to validate your point, well, it's not much of a point worth making at all.

Davis is free to run his mouth. Others are free to call him out for doing so. What he SAYS to be the case isn't a guarantee of any kind. I know some Lakers diehards aren't willing to hear it any other way than what will fit their narrative, but it is how and what it is. Empty talk. When Davis can manage to survive a regular season and be healthy to back up his boast, only then will we see how much that aforementioned talk holds weight.

Until that time comes, it's all piss in the wind. Davis is the one getting wet here.
