As a Kobe fanatic (apparently LOL), I have to say this was also Kobe's fault there's already a story on It and videos, Kobe wanting to be the top dog and what not, so to say It was all Shaq's fault for fighting with Kobe, not the case It went both ways :) probably even more on Kobe's side In that scenerio.

When Kobe willingly played 2nd option they won 3 rings. What Kobe could not tolerate was Shaq voluntarily declining by getting fatter, slower and using the regular season as his pre workout.

If it was strictly about being "the guy", they would not have won those 3 rings. If the Lakers had Miami Shaq instead of the 400+ pound Shaq, they would've won at least 2 more.

Shaq is definitely lame for this....he needs to take a step back and think about how he would feel if he just won the MVP award and a TV analyst said to his face that they think Steve Nash should've won...we all know Shaq would be pissed.

Now that Jokic has 3 MVPs compared to Shaq's 1, it's simply become too much for his fragile ego.

I think everyone gets the sense that the big man alliance bit from Shaq is not genuine....it's just an opportunity for him to prop himself up as the #1 big man on TV and social media. If it were actually genuine there's zero chance he'd be taking SGA over Jokic for the MVP award.

So the fact that he said that Jokic is the best player in the League doesnt count ?

He just think that SGA deserves it this season.
You cant go wrong with either Jokic or SGA tbh.

At 6:55 mark Shaq stated that he always thought that MVP meant you're the baddest player in the league regardless of the team records. I think it is safe to assume that Shaq meant baddest player in the league = best player in the league.

https://youtube.com/shorts/szfeKHdxilA?si=rJiWDLEBCjISDIhI

This clip he told Jokic he's the best player in the league but didn't deserve the MVP. He literally contradicted himself in the same day. Lol.
Sometimes I'll start a sentence and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way.

And, in the year Shaq finished 2nd to Nash, he basically finished 2nd because people didn’t quite realize how good Wade was. Shaq played a very clear second-fiddle to Wade even in the playoffs that year (and that’s not even getting into that occurring to an even larger extent the next year). If there was a re-vote on that year in retrospect, I don’t think Shaq would even finish 2nd—for instance, Dirk and Duncan really deserved to be above Shaq.

Basically, Shaq definitely has a case to be made that he should’ve won more MVPs than he won, but he doesn’t really have a good case that he should’ve gotten MVPs in the years Nash won them.

It’s the Iverson MVP that should really have him triggered. But he won’t dare come for him since he “for the culture”

Duncan deserved that one, though

Exactly, even if you're a Nash skeptic Dirk has a much better argument than Shaq. I went through it year by year and outside of the year he won he only has a decent case in 1995/2001/2002. While I wouldn't have voted for him in any of those years I can understand others who feel differently.

But overall Shaq's biggest issue with winning the MVP was Shaq. He didn't keep himself in shape during the off-season. Nor did he stay motivated in the RS. Shaq stopped Shaq from winning MVPs

I don't think that "live" he really had a strong case in 2001.
He got surgery late in summer, he was out of shape, there was that embarrassing with Kobe and for long stretches he decided he didn't want to play any defense because he was not getting the ball enough.
That generates a very bad narrative that absolutely didn't help his case.

It's a very short list of dudes that have won that many chips, even amongst the greats.

Carry on.

Guys thinking this is a nothing burger should watch the whole video, since the moment of the announcement.
Shaq made the 2024 MVP something about himself, it was totally inappropriate and unprofessional.
To be honest the League should not let Inside the NBA announce the awards anymore until he's there.
That was the time to celebrate the game and its best players, not to start silly controversies.

You have spend a whole day on this forum to speak about this Jokic-Shaq thing

You look wayyyyy more insecure and sensitive than Shaq, you know

Let it go. Its a non-story. Shaq is like that, its his opinion. Probably not a great timing, but Shaq and Jokic mess around a lot together.
Dude is more hurt than Jokic. Superfans are something else.

Jokic a multimillionaire like cmon bro it's not that serious. Dwight been getting trashed by Shaq his entire career. This is what Shaq does. He calls Chuck trash on every show.

The reason why this is weird is because Shaq actually likes the Joker, or at least always acted in such way. This is kind of coming out of the blue.

If you think this was harsh check out his IG post about Shannon Sharpe.

Shaq has issues. Dude is one of the richest athletes and was known for being the most dominant, but man he really hates on other greats for no reason.

It has to do with Shaq pettiness and defenders of his behaviour not Jokic. I love the fact you needed to chime in a reply directed to me. Any chance to troll another poster. Who are you pretending to be now an agent? Jokic family member? Supertrolls are something else

Check out this manchilds last couple Instagram posts. He’s insufferable. Grown man in his 50s referring to himself as an apex predator all because Shannon Sharpe called him out on the Jokic bs.

Imagine a coach having to deal with Shaq and Kobe’s egos on a daily basis for 8 straight years. Phil Jackson deserves an extra ring just for that alone lol

Ofc shaq would be threatened by joker winning it 3 times. He's a center, shaq knows he's not goat but he has some pride about being the best or one of the best centers to ever play the game. He feels like he should've been given more mvps.
You clearly see his bias towards heaping praise on the little guys like curry and sga but belittling bigs that get recognition like when Howard was winning awards.
