So their strategy is to let people blow by Luka, fine. What about game 1 and 2 when there were no defenders in the paint and they blew past him for free layups?

Re: Luka on pace to lead the playoffs in Total PTS/REB/AST
Luka has, for now, matched and surpassed 2023 Jokic as he currently leads the playoffs in Total:
PTS
REB
AST
WS
STL
Jokic was the first person in NBA history to lead a playoffs in PTS, REB, AST and WS.
Luka is 20 rebounds ahead of Tatum and 0.2 WS ahead of Derrick White. He probably can't be caught in PTS, AST or STL. Tatum likely won't catch him in REB, but there's a good chance that White (2.7 WS) or Holiday (2.4) could catch Luka (2.9) in Win Shares during The Finals.

Yes. If the Mavs lose The Finals they would tie the Pacers (8-9) for most losses this postseason (DAL currently 13-8).
This wouldn't be historic, however. Last year Boston was 11-9 in the playoffs and Miami was 13-10. Dallas will finish up with a better winning percentage than either of those teams even if they lose G5.
Luka's individual playoff stats, then, are on pace to be historic but his team playoff losses for 2024 will not be.

Re: Luka on pace to lead the playoffs in Total PTS/REB/AST
Boston 4-1.
Luka makes history, he is the first person in NBA history to lead a playoffs in Total:
PTS
REB
AST
STL
We'll have to see if he maintains his WS lead. White and Holiday were close to him coming into G5.
Defense, etc data as it comes in. Final Team DRTG will be out soon tonight. Individual DRTG, Playoffs On/Off, RAPTOR tomorrow.
Dallas radio talking about the above stats right now.

Proud of him. Now we need to see if he led in Win Shares. It'll be close but my guess is he won't get it.
For him to do this while so banged up is crazy.
Looking forward to next year.

so led league in playoffs in total:
points
FGA
FGM
3FGA
3FGM
FTA
FTM
rebounds
defensive rebounds
steals
minutes
assists
games played
turnovers
I realize this is about him being high usage and in the Finals, but cmon now that's just stupid.

The only player I can think of who might have a chance to exceed what Luka did this playoffs is someone like Hakeem, who was great at both steals and blocks. But he wouldn't have the assists.
Truly staggering from Luka.

Re: Luka on pace to lead the playoffs in Total PTS/REB/AST
hopefully he is healthier next year and we have a better roster. Current roster can beat anyone but the Celtics. Either the CBA needs to hit the Celtics or we find a way to add.

Re: Luka on pace to lead the playoffs in Total PTS/REB/AST
Here's the complete Finals Team On/Off DRTG and NRTG data.

Information:
* Luka had the best On Team DRTG of any DAL starter and was third (Green, Kleber) among players who played all 5 games and averaged 10+ mpg in The Finals
* Luka had the best On Team NRTG of any DAL player who played all 5 games and averaged 10+ mpg in The Finals
* DAL Team DRTG was at its worst with Luka Off Court
* Luka was the only Mavs player with a negative Off Court NRTG, meaning the team was able to be ok with every other player Off Court but it tanked when Luka was Off Court
Mavs who played all 5 Finals games and averaged 10+ mpg in The Finals:
Luka
Kyrie
Jones
Washington
Gafford
.
Green
Kleber
Lively

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Only two Mavs played all 5 games of The Finals and averaged a positive plus/minus in the series, Luka and Exum.
Exum played around 8 mpg in The Finals, Luka about 39 mpg.

Re: Luka on pace to lead the playoffs in Total PTS/REB/AST
In the series that mattered most he shot 54% from the free throw line, 24% from three, almost 5 turnovers a game, and had less assists the Jason Tatum. He has by far the highest usg and gets a lot of steals from attempting to go for passes and letting his man fly by. Let him get all that hype from stat padding and putting 0% effort on defense though and see how many titles he will ns.
