So Woj was being too generous with his calculations. His $113m discount included 2029-30 which isn't in the extension. If we do it like for like the discount is more like $51.4m. Which is still SUBSTANTIAL.
Here Brunson can opt out in 2028 when he is 32. At which point, he'd be too old for anyone to pay $60m+ to him.
Won’t know how his game will age, but he’s going to make more than enough money being the face of New York sports. It’s between him and Aaron Judge rn and this deal might’ve tipped it in his favor.
How's he going to make more money? You think endorsement deals in NYC alone will be more than $52m over the next 3 years? Who's to say he isn't going to make those endorsements anyway?
He's taking a HUGE gamble that his game will age well. If he loses a step, he's basically FVV with less defense.

Considering the Knicks have more flexibility now to re-sign Mikal to the same deal next year and possibly Randle as well, plus still be able to make moves to while being under the 2nd apron…I’d say there’s a lot of untapped earning potential for Brunson if the Knicks manage to win a ring in this window.
Brunson’s game doesn’t rely heavily on athleticism either. I’m sure he’d figure it out even if he lost a step. He looked a step slow the entire playoffs with an injured foot and still dropped 35-40 on the regular.

His game relies on quickness that gives him all those shifty moves. Once he loses that, he's not getting around people.
Brunson got the NY haters shook ...and rightfully so...the Orange and Blue skies era is about to begin.bronxknicksfan1 wrote:___Rand___ wrote:bronxknicksfan1 wrote:

Yelling at a family member for sacrifice. Sounds classy.
I mean it's not like he's set to earn well over $250 million in his career and AT THE SAME TIME this could help his "team" fetch a championship not just for one season, but many.
Man everything is about "gettin yo bag" isn't it? smh

Congrats Knicks fans. Ya'll deserve this after the decades of incompetent management.
Is it just me or did this all start when Dolan got the hell out of the way and stopped trying to be Mark Cuban?

Dolan got out the way with Phil and that was a massive disaster.
He made the right hire with Leon Rose. He’s done a complete 180 with the franchise.

He seems like a smart dude. He probably has enough money with his first contract for him, his children, grand children.
It's pretty refreshing seeing a player seem so invested in playing good basketball on the court and helping the team that trusted him and made him a multi million dollar Guy improve the roster.
