Davion had crazy defensive hype before draft, but it kinda died down instantly when he started playing, I wonder what happened there? Chris Paul made bunch of defensive teams, and Shead is pretty big for a 6'0 guy, he is like 200 pounds, but very quick. Problem that defensive teams are positionless now.

Davion was a good point guard prospect. He was drawing comparisons to Kyle Lowry his college year. He actually had a very good rookie season and showed tons of promise, he was a huge reason why the Kings didn't want to go into the next season with 3 point guards.

In his final 32 games he rookie season he averaged 14.7 points, and 5.5 assists per game. In the final 11 games he got the opportunity to start and he averaged 18.8 points, and 9.3 assists. He had games where he had 17, and 15 assists respectively. He was looking like a true floor general his rookie year who could lock down any guard.

I think there's a little more to his game than meets the eye.

I am not necessarily disagree with that, but sometimes I think of him and what happened, because his defense why hyped up big time, but I don't think I ever heard of it after he got drafted.

His college defensive reputation didn't translate to the pros. I have seen him play good defense, pull the chair on star guards and still get called for fouls. If he's not going to be allowed to play defense as POA, then there's not much he can do. Shead may have the same issue if his defense has any star guards looking scrubby.

Impressive line. Based on his name, I figured he is African, but no he is American, but his wiki is very short, does anyone know if he holds double citizenship, most of these guys often do? As FIBA fan, I always interested in these sneaky NBA guys playing for National teams and stuff, Like Jahlil Okafor, Al-Farouq Aminu etc.

Is Risacher the first #1 pick to come off the bench since Anthony Bennett?

Nope.

Anthony Edwards came off the bench for the first month+ of his career...behind Jarrett Culver...for a losing team. :o

Mogbo, Missi and Knecht have been the most impressive in the first 1-2 games.

Literally nothing can be taken away from the sample. Will track back in a month.

Reed Sheppard: 6 minutes, 0 points.
Salaun: First time not having a DNP, 9 minutes, 0 points.
Holland: 6 minutes (did manage 5 points)
Buzelis: 7 minutes

...... This class is not really starting strong at all other than Missi and Dunn.

rim running center is a much easier role to play right away, it's not a coincidence Lively and Kessler were almost immediately among the most impactful rookies the last couple of years and that's already trending downwards (comparatively to the rest of their respective classes). If Missi ends up one of the better players from this class it's likely a really bad sign for the class more than a reflection on Missi.

Sarr looked pretty nice tonight. Super raw obviously, but you can see that 3 and D potential. Wizards and Raptors seem to be the only team really playing their rookies so far.

Alexandre Sarr, Wizards - 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal
Carlton Carrington, Wizards - 10 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds
Kyshawn George - 2 points, 4 blocks, 4 assists, 4 rebounds

Ajay Mitchell, Thunder - 4 points, 3 assists, 2 steals
Jamal Shead, Raptors - 5 points, 5 assists
Stephon Castle, Spurs - 8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block
Ryan Dunn, Suns - 13 points, 1 rebound
Dalton Knecht, Lakers - 10 points, 1 rebound

You could also add Jamison Battle, undrafted player on a two-way with the Raptors. He's averaging 9.0 ppg and 4.7 rbds through 3 games.

Of course, I wouldn't expect the minutes for guys like Battle to keep up the whole season. The Raptors are currently down 4 rotation players due to injury, in addition to their top draft pick Ja'Kobe Walter.

Playing better than the stats, particularly on the defensive side. Need to get stronger particularly to be able to finish his layups and maintain defensive positions, but the smarts are obvious and he learns from his mistakes quickly.
