Dude he took a cheap shot from behind in the middle of the lane when he wasn’t even involved in the play. Zubac even apologized for it after the game and said that’s not the kind of play he wants to be known for.
Wemby had every right to complain about not getting that call. I’d be pissed too. I think anyone would.

Nah that's BS. A foul should be a foul no matter who it is

And I get that, but there's a difference between constantly looking for fouls and feeling like you're owed some versus them being called because they're deserved. Hard to be sure as to what the case is here.

Goaltend. Ball was on the downward trajectory.

Should be? Yes. But that’s not how the league has worked for at least 40 years, maybe longer.

Refs are absolutely not immune to narratives.

It was called as a goaltend and then reviewed. No error here.

These are the most impressive Wemby's blocks in my eyes as multiple time this year we've been seeing this scenario: Wemby blocking very lately --> refs not believing the ball didn't hit backboard/still going upward --> review and block turning out as fine.

I like seeing Wemby getting frustrated with the no calls and how bad his coach's rotation is, the horrible bench leading to losses . Sochan/Collins might be the worst back up centers even small ball centers in the NBA by far.

He needs to become more aggressive about winning games and show his front office that you can't surround a great player with horrible defenders and none shooters.
No great player ever in the games history can help the worst paint defence in the league when he is resting on the bench. Wemby taking on Giannis like he is better than a superstar is his real level.

Sochan is a superb defender, but obviously not a great floor spacer. He was a menace on Lillard the other night. Collins sucks. Spurs do have a poor big man rotation overall outside of wemby. This summer (and perhaps the trade deadline with trying to get Fox) is when we will see some moves to speed up the timeline. The bench is awful for sure

It always made me laugh that people were asking what the difference was between him and KP, for starters he's very obviously like 3" taller and more athletic. The question reminded me of when KD was coming out and people asked what the difference between him and Rashard Lewis

So stupid. I know it's hard for fans to conceptualize the difference 3 inches makes in the NBA since the players are so far beyond our levels that 3 inches this way or the other seems barely relevant but...

3 inches matters the world in the NBA. Most of the 5s wouldn't be in the league if you shaved 3 inches off their height, Lebron becomes Corey Magette, you get the idea

LeBron plays literally nothing like Corey Maggette. He'd be worse if you took 3 inches off him for sure but at least pick a player who plays the same style.

Lebrons a better passer but he also doesn't have Corey's relentless style. Maybe Landry Fields is a better comparison ?

Shave another 3 inches off and you get... Bronny?

I'm not saying Sochan is a bad defender or as a player, like how Collins sucks. I think the coach is doing criminal work playing Sochan at his length, weight as a backup center like in recent games. He isn't Aaron Gordon stopping AD level of huge wing, he should be chasing Lillard types. Poor big man rotation is understatement, how can you go from having a defence monster in the paint to the worst paint defensive numbers the few minutes he rests. They would be in top 8-9 in the West with NBA average level big man reserve.

To be fair to Mitch it was the same when Pop was coaching -it's a personel issue, we need some rotational bigs in this lineup asap. For the time being maybe give Bassey more run as those minutes are wasted on Collins anyway. But yeah, throwing Sochan at opposing 5 does not help.

I agree with you there. It’s a shockingly bad big man rotation. I keep hearing rumours Vucevic is available for a couple seconds. Not sure how much credence to give that but I hope the Spurs FO would be all over that. Let’s see what happens by the trade deadline otherwise I’m sure they’ll get someone competent for the bigs over the summer. Frustrating for sure.
