He’s shooting 52% from 2 and 60% from 3 (43 attempts) in 8 games so far. 73% TS.
He's been a great fit on the Cavs. They gave up practically nothing to get him too.

Deandre Hunter stole a W for CLE yesterday vs POR

Here's his shooting since the trade

52.0% on 9.4 FGA
59.5% on 5.3 3PA
83.3% on 3.8 FTA
68.7% EFG
72.6% TS

He comes off the bench for them like he did for ATL this season. Him & Jerome have some insane numbers together so far. Mix in Wade & Merrill and they got a nice 9 man rotation going around their big 4. This trade really filled in some gaps for them.

D. Hunter - T. Jerome
7 games 103 mins
128.7 ORTG
100.0 DRTG
28.7 NRTG

Hunter and the Cavs are playing well, but the Hawks made out just fine in this trade...

it's a good win-win trade.

Zac was showing he was ready to take over the SF starting spot
and Hawks get a good scorer off the bench, and offload that contract

In the meantime, Niang has regressed back to his usual 40% 3pt shooting and Hunter had his first clunker of a game in a Cavs uniform starting in place of Mobley .vs. the Bulls.

Bingo. The minute the Hawks decided to draft Risacher, Hunter's fate was sealed.

My only complaint with the Hunter trade is that even at his peak value, he still wasn't coveted enough to bring back any young talent. (i.e. Jaylon Tyson, Jabari Smith Jr., Jarace Walker, Jonathan Kuminga, Jaden McDaniels) :banghead:

Well, after all, Caris LeVert is the expert at putting in work.

And as the Cavs are headed to the second apron and beyond we appreciate immensely that we didn't have to give up a young player or a future #1 we're going to need to try to sustain the team.

It sounds like the Raptors or Pelicans might have made an offer for Hunter, but then they pulled off the Ingram deal with each other. It's still surprising other teams didn't swoop in and beat the Cavs offer, but you have to give players up to match the salary and even the Cavs were hesitant to upset their roster.

I always thought of Levert as a Swiss Army Knife. He is capable of running the offense, creating for himself and be a #1 option, catch-and-shoot 3&D small wing as a #3 option, etc... It's just that he doesn't do any of that at an elite level. He can fill all the roles of PG, SG, and SF, just not good enough at any to build around him as part of a core. Great piece for a coach to have on the bench though. He can be inserted for injured guys without much loss. A glue guy in that aspect.

I will say he is elite in another area. He is a really good person. Total team player and it would hard to find someone that doesn't like him. If you want culture, he is a top 20 player in the league.

This. Caris was asked to do everything for the Cavs and his role fluctuated more than just abt anyone I can remember.

A bunch of injuries? Be a 25ppg scorer.
Garland out? Be the facilitator
Start at wing and guard the other teams best player
Be the 5th best starter and do the little things
Be the 6th man - at PG, or SG, or SF depending on the night

His role was basically "do whatever we need from you today". He was inconsistent, but who wouldnt be with his role. I was a major fan. Good player, great person. Versatility on its own is a critical skill. Most role players are specialist. Hes one of the only role players who is both 1. Good 2. A generalist

De'Andre is looking good playing the role of "zone buster", his length and mid range are looking really valuable for us in that role and while he may not dish many assists I can't think of any times so far where I thought he was stopping the ball to the detriment of the team.

I've seen him make some nice passes that didn't lead to points or didn't credit him with the assist. Hunter is a beast.

Welp, Cavs finally lost a game since acquiring Hunter at the trade deadline. I think he's better off the bench.

Everyone talking about the Warriors 13-1 since acquiring Jimmy. Cavs are 16-1 since acquiring Hunter.
