I feel like you could balance the team better by dropping KP Jr and Kevin Saraphin for Kevin Gamble and Kevin Edwards.

Someone is going to pay a 39 year old $60 million dollars.

Glad it's not my team.

KD owns a condo just outside the Kaseya Center arena. It's in one of the high rises. Hes owned it for many years.

KD, Bam, and Ware can make some noise.

Sengun, amen, and KD would be a very strong frontcourt.

The issue with Durant is that he's an extremely volatile asset. Ten games in, he could suffer a torn ACL and be done for his career—or he could deliver four years of lower-usage, high-efficiency greatness. He’s a good gamble at a low cost, but not at a high one (especially when factoring in salary). That’s particularly true for young, promising teams like Houston and San Antonio.

Right now, it seems like Durant’s preferred destinations might not be nearly as high on him as he is on them. Because of the salary burden, their offers could end up being underwhelming—maybe one decent asset and some filler contracts. Think teams like San Antonio, Miami, or Houston. In other words, no Ware, Castle, or Jabari. Maybe they throw in one solid pick or a couple of middling ones, but nothing huge.

Other teams might be willing to offer more, but Durant could discourage them by signaling he’d treat it as a rental. Minnesota seems to be the most aggressive, probably because they’ve boxed themselves into a corner timeline-wise and have fewer options to improve. The wildcard here is how much say Durant wants in choosing his destination. Has he ever missed the playoffs or been on a completely irrelevant team before last season? That likely stung—he seems like someone who cares about that.

As for Houston, they’re tied up with potential extensions for FVV, Jabari, and Tari. If one of those falls apart, maybe their priorities shift. But they already secured a very favorable extension with Steven Adams, so things are looking good so far.

Another factor that could shift the landscape: if Durant agrees to a team-friendly extension. That would reduce his risk profile and might convince a team to include an extra asset in the deal. Or maybe a secondary asset comes back in the trade—like Kris Dunn or one of Phoenix’s bad firsts, from their last terrible decision.

Something else to watch: if a player Phoenix really likes unexpectedly drops on draft night, they might soften their stance and get a deal done.

The biggest overall issue here is that Phoenix is not operating rationally and doesn't understand how terrible of a position they are in. Its unquestionably the worst in the NBA. They are literally trying to "improve" by trading Kevin Durant....They have one rational move and its to trade Booker and Durant. This retool around Booker nonsense makes no sense. I fully expect them to make the worst decision possible every step of the way.

It’s a fascinating situation. I’m looking forward to watching it unfold—and eventually getting the behind-the-scenes scoop. This kind of drama is what makes the NBA so compelling, especially with one of your teams as a stakeholder.

In that scenario what does Phoenix get for trading KD to Miami?

I doubt Phoenix will receive much. A first round pick, maybe a pick swap, and the contracts needed to make a trade happen.

If that's all they can get for Durant then they may as well keep him.

But I bet they can get a better deal.

I don't think SA or Houston should go after him due to age and cost, but maybe they think he'll help move them up a level? With Houston I'm not sure who they'd trade to match salary...? Green and Brooks? That leaves them with no SG. Someone else? Phoenix would probably want the #10 pick and other picks.

SA could trade Barnes, Vassell, #14 and maybe another pick? Vassell could start at SF for Phoenix and #14 could be used on a center or PF.

Maybe a three team deal makes more sense...? Whatever they end up doing I agree with you about Phoenix. They should trade both Durant and Booker and start over.

Suns - Claxton, Jaquez, Jovic, 2025 #19 pick (BK) and 2025 #20 pick (MIA)

Heat - KD

Nets - Ware, Rozier, Robinson, Allen, 2029 unprotected 1st (MIA)

basically Nets get young promising player and future pick to take on salary from both teams, Suns get to keep trying to compete since they don't have their own picks going forward but at least they get two picks to use in this year's draft and a couple role players that should fit well with Booker. Heat happily pay to get a championship caliber team especially in a weak Eastern Conference.

I don't mind KD on the Heat but under no circumstances must they trade Ware.

Agreed. How crazy would it be for Miami to go from having a guy who forces his way off the team to one who will actually play basketball for them. The level of professionalism KD would bring to the Heat would provide a much needed boost to the team's culture.

KD never wanted out of Phoenix. It’s their fault for blowing up their team trading for Beal & Nurkic. Making him the scapegoat was just dumb, considering he’s been their best player. A trade to the Rockets would’ve happened by now. They obviously tried to trade him to a team he didn’t want to go to and he’s publicly putting it out there he isn’t signing an extension. If I’m Miami I’m not giving up Ware for him. Spurs not giving up 2 and or Castle. Phoenix is delusional. No team is giving them what they want for an expiring aging player with or without Giannis available. Giannis being available makes it 10x harder. I’m probably KD’s biggest fan on this board saying this.

The expirings and future 1sts the Heat own with Jaime & Jovic should suffice

Vassel/Barnes/Sochan a few picks should suffice.

If they were smart they would use those assets and get in the Giannis trade to bring back a center but they’re bitter KD made GSW back out the trade at the deadline.

This is a bad trade for both the Suns and Heat. Heat would be foolish to give up Ware and the Suns should just cut the Nets out if the Heat are. Robinson is owed half is salary and a 2029 1st from Miami is valuable.

Wide open for a playoff seeding, but that's about it. Once you get into round 2 you're still facing very good teams, and not to mention if the goal is to win a championship you have to stack up with the best in the West.
You'll have the Pacers, gotta give them their due.

Other than that, what Cavs and Knicks (who currently don't have a head coach)?

Celtics Tatum is rehabbing a torn Achilles and Brown rehabbing a torn meniscus.

Bucks Dame is rehabbing a torn Achilles and Giannis may be traded.

76ers, Embiid's knees are probably bone on bone, PG can't stay healthy, McCain rehabbing his meniscus, and #3 will be a rookie. Maxey is nice and so is Grimes but they need to pay him.

Gotta see what the Pistons and Magic do in the off-season.

Hawks and Bulls seem too far away to even mention.

That seems way more appealing than going to the Wolves or Spurs and fighting through the West gauntlet.

Exactly! East is wide open next year with Tatum likely out and the Celtics breaking up. I would rather live in Miami and play in the weak east then fight through the crazy west. Plus Spo is probably the best coach out of all the options.
