Guy only makes Bronny James videos because he knows people eat it up.

His commentary makes one know he's never actually hooped or coached a team. Some of the reads he talks about, I'm like, dude, those aren't actually there in real time the way you think they are. It's very easy to see reads while pausing and in slow motion. If he was on a basketball court, he likely wouldn't be a high IQ player, despite having a channel based on breaking down film.

All that said, Bronny is not good, but awful coaching many times gets me annoyed.

He should be on a two-way contract, not the fully guaranteed four-year deal they signed him to. I think anyone with any sense knows that he wouldn't have gotten that deal if he wasn't LeBron's son. That's the only real issue I see with him.

Regardless of the LeBron impact, he would've still gotten some looks as a two-way guy. I still think he has the tools to become an NBA player, but it's obviously a work in progress.

No team would've had him as a top 100 prospect going into the draft if it wasn't for lebron. His freshman numbers alone showed he wasn't good enough to play D1 in college

Yes perhaps he is lucky to have an NBA roster spot, but it's not as if he hadn't put in the hard work and long hours to get there.

Comes with the territory when you get an $8 million contract for being related to LeBron. I agree that he doesn't come across as entitled, but if he really wanted to try to make it on his own merits he could've.

He is certainly quite bad, but I’m somewhat intrigued by him not being even worse. He doesn’t immediately stick out as awful in the way you’d expect a complete Nepo fraudster to do, his defense is even somewhat passable. He may yet prove himself to be in normal blow-up failed 2nd round project territory rather than worst player of all time territory.

If he can’t even bring the ball up the court against NBA level players, he’s gotta be in the mold of Tony Allen on defense to be worth a roster spot, which he isn’t as he’s quite small. He’s not Thanasis level bad but he’s not worth a roster spot either.

Thanasis is basically an all star player compared to Bronny. He's got good size & athleticism. You can throw him out and there and at least he'll play some defense and hustle. Bronny looks more out of place than any player i've seen in a while.

To be fair, if you were a content creator who made his living critiquing bad play in the NBA who would be your most easy targets? Answer: Those least qualified to play in the NBA. That's kind of the definition of Bronny.

The answer to “who else”? I mean if they really don’t mind to waste a spot, they could make a deal with the devil and sign a popular Chinese player from the CBA. The coverage/support for the Lakers (and that said player) in China would be even bigger than ever.

Imagine if the Lakers were to start this player?

The thing is, you never know. Guys like Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Austin Reeves, Fred VanVleet, and there are plenty of examples in the yester-year. There could be a solid rotation player who is HUNGRY to get a shot in the NBA. Why waste a roster spot on a player who can’t make an impact?

Pros to keeping him:

Jersey sales and keep LeBron happy. That’s pretty good return for a 15th man.

Cons to keeping him:

Last night the Lakers were so banged up with injuries, Bronny got some legit playing time. And that’s the downside to keeping him on an older roster with some injury prone guys… he might have to play real minutes.

Edit: 2nd con- If Lakers try to trade Lebron to build around Luka’s future, Bronny will likely have to go with. That will definitely hurt LeBron’s trade value.

Verdict: Makes sense for the Lakers to keep him for what he brings non-basketball wise, especially in the early regular season. But if it’s getting close to playoffs and they’re nursing a lot of injuries… cutting him makes sense if Lakers are playoff bound. LA does not want to give this man any playoff minutes
