Exactly...people misremember details all the time, especially in stressful, random situations like that. And his friggin back was turned. He probably told what he thought he recalled. I guarantee he was not purposely lying or being deceitful. Some people on this board just want to make drama out of everything, I swear

Misremember details? You call other people soft, yet you think that was a stressful situation? And I would love to know how you could guarantee he wasn't purposely lying or being deceitful. On second thought, no I wouldn't. Nice avi by the way.

Say what? Stressful doesn't mean scary dude. He was walking and then all of a sudden heard a commotion was told to keep walking and shuttered away. Maybe take a college course in memory and how it's encoded and get back to me. Idk why you've tasked yourself with being Britney's internet White Knight but I can assure you that she doesn't care if you get triggered on her behalf or not

Again - his back was to the whole thing and he kept walking like security told him to ahead of time. We also had early reports that Spears was hit in the face and she fell as a result. Her own written account states that she was backhanded in the face - not what the video shows as security guard backhanded her hand away which hit her face, and that she nearly fell - also not on video. So yeah accounts vary but only Wemby is being accused of deception after early reports changing a couple of times and charges not being filed after all.

Ill take being a White Knight over being a male groupie of a 19 year old kid any day of the week. Wemby will never know you exist, no matter how many post you make about him or how big your Wemby cape is.

Yep, dudes over here defending Britney who literally lied about how it went down but whining about how Wemby who had his back turned the whole time supposedly is making things up.

I mean she recalls it a certain kind of way when things happened so fast and getting hit so I don't know that she was intentionally lying as it is a case of recall being spotty (though she left out the whole British accent in trying to get his attention. I don't know why but this feels so weird and off to me so I keep pointing it out...).

Video disputes some things but doesn't clear up all since we only have that one angle from behind so far. That her own security stated this is pretty much standard for handling such instances and that the security guy talked it over with Spears' team afterwards and that no charges were filed should pierce through the wonky click-bait, blame narratives.

everyone is making way too much out of this.

she's an over-the-hill pop star trying to stay relevant. she, of ALL people, should understand celebrity and the role of security.

Way too many people hide behind the literal definition of "assault". If someone touches you, do a quick inventory and if you aren't hurt, don't cry "assault" ffs.

you keyboard champs will argue ANYTHING lol

I mean you could see she was stunned and hurt by the impact and it's a pity it even got to that point. But from that point on it was a narrative spin-o-rama that got adjusted by the next day except for the media outlets that benefit from the subsequent dizziness.

I mean the security guard slapped the crap out of her. He went through her hand and slapped her in the face. Video shows that much if you’re looking closely.

There’s obviously no excuse for the lies the publicist told the police.

But again Wemby never turned around his only mistake here was telling a weird version of the story and laughing about it. Media training will benefit him since he’s going to get the mic so much.

I've mentioned in a previous response to one of your posts here that Spears' own security stated that this is a standard security response that they themselves have done. Knowing that, perhaps her security ought to have kept her away I don't know. But it's gone from assault to charges to being fired to... par for the security course that perhaps she didn't expect to apply to her.

You've mentioned a couple of times that Wemby was laughing about it imputing perhaps immaturity or his finding it funny and that he needs media training. He's been a pro for three years and a top level prospect for longer than that. He has stated he wants to be the best on and off the court, including doing media, so he'll get better at it, but he's not green at it either having done plenty of interviews in that time.

His weird version as you call it is his account with his back to a scuffle. Recalling a brief, tense instance will be fraught with holes that comes with a personal POV. I find Spears' account missing some key info, too, with some parts minimized, others exaggerated.

Just feels like there's attempts to make some blame stick somewhere.

Wemby hasn't even played a minute of pro ball and he's already too big for Spears LOL. This whole thing is hysterical.

p.s. I wanted to add, MoneyTalks, that I appreciate your POV and defense of someone who essentially got hit for not doing anything nefarious. It's jarring to see a woman get hit, and when a much bigger man does it the impact is hard given the physicality disparity.

Wemby's laughing struck me as a sort of embarrassment at being in the whirlwind of a situation with what ended up being a star but it's interesting that others may 'read' it differently.

I've seen fans get their camera equipment damaged, get elbows bent, get shoved HARD, get forearms to faces by security and the one constant was - too close to whoever security was there to protect. Not saying it's right for such a harsh reaction, but it's always a hulking guy clearing space however first.

If one wants to argue that security protocol needs adjusting, more finesse, it's a valid point as well.

what a whole lot of nothing pffff

the video clearly shows a standard reaction all around, she wasn't "slapped" the security guy has his back turned from her
she's a sad story no doubt but this is literally nothing

with that said, just from a PR standpoint it's weird to me that two hours after this incident we didn't get an arranged meeting between them where Wemby gives her a signed jersey and a hug, that would have killed this nothing story on the spot

Well, 2 things

a) he looks exhausted out there, I don't know if it's lingering jet lag and the back and forth between Nike/SA househunting/Las Vegas or what, but he better get used to it because that's how NBA is.

b) I get what he's saying about staying slim, it must be nice to cover all this ground effortlessly with his light frame. But I think he will soon be tired of picking himself up off the floor so often. Hit the weight room and the proteins Wemby, it's gonna be a long year.

he's going to have to be mentally tough as every player in the league is going to have their matchup with him as their super bowl on a nightly basis. with his lack of natural offense at the moment, he's going to have some adversity to battle through.
