You're typing mald paragraphs at me trying to convince yourself. Not me.
The actions speak loud enough. Celtics mods on page one of the Raptors game day threads wishing them luck and giving support. Celtics around the league thread praying for Toronto success. There's just no genuine deeprooted hatred amongst those two teams or their fans, and it shows.
And it makes sense. Only one playoff series between y'all in history and no fans even got to witness it live.
Marcus Smart tweeted "King of the North" after game 7 and not a minute was even played in Canada. Lame. Just no real impact.
Sixers/Raptors -> 2001 & 2019 >>> Raptors/Celtics bubblemania brawl. And Boston/Philadelphia have participated in 21 playoff series' all time. That's how rivalries are developed. See --> Clippers/Mavericks semi ascensions after 2020 & 2021.
The Sixers have a stronger individual rivalry against both of these two teams than y'all do with each other, and it's why in this estranged love triangle you guys turn to support each other when push comes to shove.
Sure.
I'm typing facts over the past 15 years of two teams that have been competing forever for dominance in the division are the ones that have a rivalry due to continued success of both franchises so anyone could understand why that is as it makes well... perfect sense.
You're just saying nothing because you don't want to admit you're wrong despite it being obvious and logically true to everyone and that's fine. Have what you want.
I'm sure we'll take no Marcus Smart tweets after an inconsequential sweep of the 76ers as proof the players and fans cared about that matchup more than the one where Smart taunted the Raptors for beating them (that year at least, again it's been back and forth now for 15 years).
The objective rankings of these historical rivalries are:
1) Sixers/Boston
2) Sixers/Raptors
3) Boston/Raptors
You and your kin can run back along to your around the league thread and the Raptors game thread and send your well wishes and prayers. I haven't seen that happening anywhere near the Sixers board or in the general boards either. And we all know why.
Okay I was talking today and fans that are alive.
But I agree, historically speaking I'm sure I'm grandfathers would rank it that way.
To the credit of 76er fans though, part of the reason there isn't a rivalry there especially on RealGM is because we are kin. Perhaps Boston fans haven't boo'd Santa Claus but we get it and boo our own teams too.
And I can't remember if there ever was a time a 76er vs Celtics game coming up where the Celtics board was talking about it before it happened and having to be prepared for the vitriol and trolling that was accompanying it.
So a lot of it happens to be constant matchups in a time where we were old enough to have hair on our chins and well frankly just the 76er fans have always been well mannered during games. Nothing above the norm at least (there's always one or two stray posters here or there in all fan bases but nothing like the Raptor fans zombie army of trolls every game for well over a decade now on this site)
