I don't agree he is playing better this year than last. His percentages are suffering this year, at least for now.

Honestly, it’s two things:

1) Shouldering more of the scoring load with Murray out which absolutely has been necessary

and

2) Trying to introduce the volume 3-point shooting that he dominated with during the playoffs to his regular season game and being cold to start the season on really good looks.

I guess you could say his performance was slightly more valuable last year, but he’s dominating in a different way now with a more well-rounded game and I think he’s a better player than he was last year if that makes sense.

He’s literally had to play every position on the floor with Murray out. Plus he never misses games. I’m shocked that he isn’t exhausted right now. Dude’s conditioning is absolutely incredible but the workload he’s had to take on has unquestionably hurt his shooting.

The Mavs slipping and playing close to .500 basketball would be devastating for this ridiculous race between Jokic and Doncic. Someone drops 36/13/14 with 0 turnovers and it wasn't the most bizarre stat line of the day, crazy.

There's no good reason so far not to give Jokic the third MVP he was robbed of last season.

Curry definitely ain’t part of any MVP discussion. He’s been disqualified just on passing it to Draymond for…a game winning 3?

Leads NBA in total Points, assists and rebounds.
Highest PER in history, top5 in +/- this season.
averaging almost 30/13/10
57% FG%
All of this while Denver second best player missed 2/3 of all the games, Gordon playing worse then last year, Not having Bruce brown anymore....

At this point its just bunch of excuses why to not give him the clearly deserved MVP, again..

Has the “most points, rebounds and assists” ever been mentioned in the regular season before? I know they’ve all played a different amount of games, but I can’t recall this being brought up for any player in the past.

I don't know, but in 1967-68, Wilt was third in total point and first in total rebounds and assists. So maybe he was first in all three categories for short stretches of the season.

Can you please show all the data that proves every year his impact is low, and explain why Luka is the most overrated player in the league?

Thanks, man. :)

I think the main ‘excuse’ for not giving him his ‘clearly deserved mvp’ is that we’re about 20 games in… let it play out

Nobody has ever once led the entire NBA in points, assists, AND rebounds in NBA history, even through only 20 season games.

Last 4 seasons, overall, Jokic is:

5th in total points
2nd in total assists
2nd in total rebounds

That's never happened before for 4 consecutive years, except, of course, Wilt Chamberlain 1964-1965 through 1967-1968.

Jokic has 8 triple doubles this season. The entire rest of the NBA has 10, COMBINED. Doncic 2nd place with 3.

Highest percentage of career games with a Triple Double, including playoffs, all time:

Russell Westbrook: 17.1%
Oscar Robertson: 16.8%
Magic Johnson: 15.3%
LeBron James: 7.9%
Nikola Jokic: 18.8%
Jason Kidd: 7.2%
Wilt Chamberlain: 7.2%
James Harden: 6.6%
Larry Bird: 6.5%

And here's just centers, all time, including playoffs:

But it’s not between Jokic and Luka - lol

No one seriously talking Luka with Jokic on this run.

More people talking Embiid than Luka -

It’s getting ridiculous lol

KD balled out against nuggets and he looked like an all time great being out played by maybe one of the top 10 players of all time in his prime - it’s insane what Jokic is doing right now -

We in a Lebron - Jordan prime run - don’t miss these games and regret it

He ain’t over rated but he clearly isn’t one the top 2 or 3 guys right now - He is doing crazy Luka things but people used to it now- he has to win like Giannis and Jokic or be compared to Embiid- yuckkkk

Btw I got KD at 3rd right now behind Jokic and Giannis.

He's just as valuable at his best- the last four seasons- as Jordan and James ever were. And he's the most consistent player of the past 40 years, the past 4 seasons. 89 games the last 4 years with a Game Score 30 or better, 4 games with 10 or less.

https://www.omnicalculator.com/sports/game-score

Only Jordan 1987-1988 through 1990-1991 has had the same ratio of outstanding games to bad games in any 4 season span.

Durant is certainly in the mvp discussion and yes his efficiency has been incredible this season. He has also had to keep the team afloat without Beal and Booker missing 7 games, but Luka imo should be ranked higher because his numbers are better, he does more for the Mavs, and their team records are close.

Jokic won't win MVP because they probably won't be #1 seed and they won't be the #1 seed because of Murray's health. If Murray doesn't stay healthy during the playoffs last year or if Denver would've lost with him playing I could've seen the Nuggets making a huge trade involving him for a star. Again I'll keep saying the NBA and the basketball world is very fortunate that a player with Jokic's skills does not care about teaming up with another superstar or forming a super team.
