It's over!

FINLAND 92 SERBIA 86

Unreal made real.

Congratulations to Finland for showing up and fine play when it mattered most.

Where does Serbia go from here? Some soul searching incoming...

With some if the Serb players being slightly older and Jokic's participation always being a question mark, this might actually be the end of them being a top 3 Euro team for a bit. It depends on how Topic and Djurisic pan out too.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Like on or against Jokic? Because I think both arguments are valid

From earlier in this thread. ...

"But, but, but, Pesic and Scariolo are coaching guru masters and amazing legends"........

So much for all of that brilliant basketball analysis from some posters in this thread.

Just an absolutely pathetic coaching performance by both of them at this tournament, especially Pesic.

Finland's starting lineup with its roles is very tough. If they avoid Germany, at least the semis are possible. So Markkanen has a good chance of being MVP.

When Dirk got the MVP in 2005, there were a lot of complaints about the voting and the voters. I think they even reviewed the voting criteria and methods after.

Dirk getting the MVP and Nikos Zisis not making the all tournament team, when most people expected him to get the MVP, was quite discussed.

I wouldn't think FIBA would want to go that way again, but it's been 20 years, so maybe they might.

Markkanen one step closer right know, but Germany will face them in the semi-finals at the latest and is the worst match-up for Finland, so the chances are slim.

In the Finnish national league, each team starts with three USA players. So it's natural that some of them will get to know the Finnish beauties and the next generation will play in Finnish colors.
