When Dirk got the MVP in 2005, there were a lot of complaints about the voting and the voters. I think they even reviewed the voting criteria and methods after.

Dirk getting the MVP and Nikos Zisis not making the all tournament team, when most people expected him to get the MVP, was quite discussed.

I wouldn't think FIBA would want to go that way again, but it's been 20 years, so maybe they might.

Markkanen one step closer right know, but Germany will face them in the semi-finals at the latest and is the worst match-up for Finland, so the chances are slim.

Don't forget quarter before semi :D

Your athleticism could be a poison for the Finnish team, but luckily for us, some of the experienced players are not involved now. It helps Finland.

France, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Turkey - you have 3 of these teams maybe being better going forward?

Hapoel Tel Aviv is paying him what is the equivalent of a $16.6 million per season salary in the NBA.

Well, some people don't hate people with different skin color and welcome them to live among them.

But huge win for finnish basketball. Biggest win in finnish basketball history.

You are aware that two people of different colors can marry and have kids, right? Little, Nkamhua and Grandison all have Finnish mothers.

But go on, tell us what you really are itching to say.

Indeed, experienced players are not involved now, youkg players may lose tomorrow, but France is still France.

Wow i totally forgot it's the knockout stage already. Damn, didn't see this coming. I didn't expect anyone would be able to stop Jokic in European competition after another dominant NBA season.

GZ Finland, well deserved.

I think Germany, France and Turkey are all better with a full squad. Without Jokic and everyone just being slightly older, I think Serbia becomes part of the pool 2nd tier teams, like Lithuania, Slovenia, Greece. All capable of winning, of course.

After the post game interviews, this was like a championship for the Finnish players, so it will definitely be very difficult to gather your thoughts and focus on the next game. Markkanen said he had a bad game, so that was a good signal.

Serbia were big favorites without a doubt. But they lost their 2nd best player to injury, their point guard Micic looks completely washed up, and their coach is a total has been.

Plus, in general, it's really hard to win the EuroBasket championship.

Spain won 4, but the last one is an asterisk, because they don't win the last one without naturalizing Lorenzo Brown.

Lithuania won 3. One of those came playing at home, where you always get ref help, and two of them came before World War II. So post World War II they have 1.

Italy won 2.

Greece won 2, and one was at home with ref help.

No other country has won more than 1 title.

Russia, France, Germany, Slovenia, Latvia, and Hungary only have 1 each.

Germany won it when they were at home and had ref help.

Russia's only title is an asterisk, because they wouldn't have won it without naturalizing JR Holden.

Slovenia's only title is an asterisk, because they wouldn't have won it without naturalizing Anthony Randolph.

Latvia's only title came before World War II.

Hungary's only title came when they were at home, and had ref help.

But this was defenitely the best chance for Jokic, Bogdanovic, Micic, Jovic, Avramovic, Milutinov, Guduric - those Serbian players of this era to finally win a gold medal. Serbia will have to settle for all those silvers they have for now.

They certainly blew their best chance for a FIBA championship, and they probably won't have as easy an opportunity for another one again.

I don't think it's like that. Finland did this last Eurobasket too, but of course Croatia wasn't as strong of an opponent compared to Serbia, but before the tournament it was expected in Finland that Finland would be in top-8. Finland will beat France on the next round, but will lose again to Germany. I think Finland will be in the medal games.

It's not very easy to get a Finnish citizenship. Same goes for all the Nordic countries. Finland is not Spain and these others in that sense.

Finland played only 4 practise games. Look what it did, Finland doesn't have any injured players. Serbia on the other hand had to pay the price. I'm not sure how many prep games they played, but I'm sure it was more than Finland. Perhaps it's an indirect result of that.

If I remember right, Finland has the third youngest team in the tournament, while Markkanen has more prime years to come. So the future does look good. Sasu Salin is the only one retiring in the neat future and there may not be a spot for Madsen soon, because Mustapha Amzil will take his spot, more than likely.
